Job description

  • Allow dealers to sell extended warranties for Ford vehicles globally

  • Provide an avenue for dealers to communicate with Ford regarding potential approval coverage

  • Create new and exciting products to respond to market demand

The role is a software engineer on a large global team (10+ software engineers). We leverage Google Cloud Platform, modern IDEs, a current cloud native tech stack, GenAI tools to create code, advanced QoS metrics and DevSecOps practices, and lots of opportunity for growth and self-improvement learning from other senior engineers on the team.

Ford has a number of prior approval systems today - we’re looking to combine many of them into one modern platform with microfrontend design to differentiate business types. The users of the system vary from dealers to assessing agents to internal warranty administrators.

What you’ll do…

  • Serve as a core member of an engineering team realizing the vision of the platform.
  • Own user stories, create tech debt, collaborate on prioritzation and grooming, and deliver elegant and functional code and design.
  • Collaborate with other product teams on integrations, testing, and deployments.
  • Translate business requirements into detailed specifications.
  • Ensures software engineering excellence (e.g. best practices and quality) is achieved within the product team.
  • Collaborates with other Product Teams to reduce complexity across the product / product line, enhance interoperability between services, and make key design decisions across the portfolio.
  • Innovate and operate with an iterative, agile and user-centric perspective.
  • Clearly communicate with team members and internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate software engineering excellence through actively coding, pairing, and performing code and architecture reviews with other software engineers within the product line.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree OR a combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years with progressive responsibilities in Software Engineering, Architecture and Agile Framework.
  • 5+ Core Java, Spring boot, frontend framework such as React.js / Angular
  • 5+ Modern databases (Relational and non-relational)
  • Proven ability to work with a diverse and global team
  • Strong personal presence and capabilities to resolve technical concerns.
  • Experience with cloud services and platform knowledge.
  • Exposure and proficiency creating code with AI tools such as OpenCode, Copilot, and ClaudeCode (but we’ll train you to get better!).
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience developing API solutions.
  • Experience collaborating with engineers, designers, and product owners.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to adapt your communication style to the audience.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and navigate complex decision making in a rapidly changing environment.

Even better, you may have…

  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Experience with NOSQL data stores such as Firestore.
  • Advanced knowledge of creating and sharing AI skills and agents.

This position is a range of salary grade 7-8.

  • $99,600 - $192,900
