Job description
As Chief of Staff to the Enterprise Systems BU VP/GM, you’ll sit at the right hand of Enterprise Systems’ senior leadership, turning strategic priorities into coordinated action across a multi-billion-dollar business. This is an operator role: you’ll own the rhythm of business, run point on the highest-visibility cross-functional initiatives, and make sure the right people are aligned, informed, and moving at the right pace.
About the Team
- You will work side-by-side with the rest of the StratOps team while reaching across Product Management, Engineering, Finance, Pricing, and Marketing to keep the business running smoothly. Few roles offer this combination of breadth, senior executive access, and hands-on ownership.
- The Enterprise Systems business is NetApp’s largest and highest-impact business unit - a multi-billion dollar portfolio spanning all-flash performance systems, capacity flash and hybrid platforms. This portfolio powers mission-critical workloads for the world’s largest enterprises and is now at the center of one of the most consequential trends in infrastructure: enterprise AI and next-generation neocloud architectures.
- The Strategy & Operations (S&O) team sits at the center of this business, working closely with NetApp’s top executives. We ensure the Enterprise Systems organization is focusing on the right priorities and executing well on its top goals. The team plays an active role in NetApp’s core product strategy decisions, defining and driving greater operational rigor across the business to accelerate our pace of execution.
- You will join a talented team that combines deep technical and analytical skills with the strategic toolkit to match - structured problem-solving, executive-ready communication, and the ability to operate at the intersection of data and business strategy. We focus on strategic planning, defining and driving execution toward key priorities, executive reviews, rhythm of business, resource management, operational excellence, and ensuring the success of critical cross-company initiatives.
What you’ll do
Own the rhythm of business
- Run the operating cadence for Enterprise Systems leadership - staff meetings, MBRs/EMBRs, product development processes (e.g., product change, end-of-life), and offsites - setting agendas, driving follow-through on action items, and keeping leadership focused on what matters most
- Track priorities and commitments across the leadership team, and hold owners accountable to deadlines
Prepare leadership for the moments that matter
- Build board-ready decks, briefing docs, and talking points for C-Staff reviews, executive business reviews, and all-hands communications
- Vet and pre-align topics before they reach senior leadership, so every discussion starts from a clear, well-framed narrative
Lead cross-functional strategic initiatives
- Own priority projects end-to-end that don’t sit neatly inside one function - from new-initiative launches to organizational health and change initiatives
- Be the connective tissue: surface risks and bottlenecks early, and broker alignment across functions before issues stall execution
Represent leadership and drive operational excellence
- Serve as a trusted proxy for leadership in select meetings and forums, representing priorities and driving decisions in their absence
- Partner with the StratOps BI & Analytics team to ensure every executive review and strategic decision is grounded in the right data and story
- Build and refine the processes, tools, and communication rhythms that let the organization scale and move faster
Requirements
- 3-5 years in Chief of Staff role or experience in management consulting, strategy & operations, program management, or a similar analytical/strategic role - with exposure to executive-level work
- Proven ability to manage multiple complex, cross-functional workstreams simultaneously, with strong attention to detail and follow-through
- Executive-caliber communication skills - written and verbal - with the ability to synthesize complex or ambiguous information into clear, structured narratives and recommendations
- Comfort operating with ambiguity - you create structure and drive clarity rather than waiting for direction
- Strong business acumen and analytical skills; able to use data to inform decisions, not just opinions
- Ability to influence and build trust across all levels of the organization, including senior executives, without formal authority
- High discretion and sound judgment in handling sensitive, confidential information
Preferred Skills
- Experience in enterprise IT infrastructure, storage, or hardware product organizations
- Familiarity with data and BI tools (Power BI, SQL, Excel) - enough to be a savvy partner to the analytics team, even if not a hands-on builder
Education
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or equivalent advanced degree a plus
