Job description

The Software Engineer Track is designed for individuals passionate about building and maintaining applications that drive better healthcare outcomes.

What you’ll do

  • Meaningful Work: Design and deliver scalable software solutions that drive innovation and improve healthcare outcomes as part of The Cigna Group’s Software Engineering track.

  • Community & Connection: Build strong relationships across the organization through networking, mentorship, cross-functional collaboration, and informal peer engagement that support both personal and professional growth.

Requirements

  • Candidates must have participated in and completed a Cigna Group internship prior to applying for this position.

  • Education: Full time candidates must have completed a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a technical program at the time of hire. Preferred degrees include Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and Software Engineering.

  • Additional degrees such as Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Math, Bioinformatics, or Healthcare Analytics will be considered if paired with strong coding experience and exposure to software development principles.

  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with programming languages and tools such as Python or other coding languages, prompt engineering, JavaScript, SQL.

  • Courses & Experiences: Academic coursework, research, or internships focused on machine learning, natural language processing, computer vision, or generative AI. Exposure to real-world applications of AI in healthcare or other industries is a plus.

  • AI Forward Mindset: Demonstrated curiosity and enthusiasm for emerging AI technologies and their potential to reshape industries. Interest in ethical AI, responsible innovation, and the intersection of AI and human-centered design.

  • Well Rounded: Leadership or involvement in clubs, organizations, or technical competitions such as Hackathons, AI challenges, or research symposiums.

Benefits & conditions

  • Compensation: Expected base salary is $88,000 for bachelor’s graduates and $100,000 for master’s graduates, plus competitive benefits.

  • Pre-Employment Requirements: Selected candidates will be required to complete mandatory pre-employment tasks approximately 45 days prior to the program start date. Completion of the drug test requires availability within the United States during this timeframe.

If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 72,400 - 120,600 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
