THE ROLE We are looking for an early-career Python Backend Developer who is excited by AI and wants to help turn working concepts into reliable products. You will: * Build and maintain Python backend services and REST APIs. * Help develop data-processing and retrieval pipelines for Engineer Assist. * Integrate LLMs, AI models and technical documentation into production systems. * Work with databases, service records and customer data. * Write clean, testable and maintainable code. * Troubleshoot backend and integration issues. * Participate in architecture, testing, deployment and customer-feedback discussions. * Take ownership of features from initial idea through to working delivery. You do not need to be an AI researcher. We are primarily looking for a capable Python developer with strong fundamentals, curiosity and the determination to learn quickly. WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR Essential: * Approximately 1-3 years of practical Python/backend development experience. * Experience building or maintaining REST APIs. * Good understanding of object-oriented programming and clean-code principles. * Experience with SQL or NoSQL databases. * Familiarity with Git, testing and collaborative development. * Able to work independently, solve problems and communicate clearly. * Already authorised to work in Spain without visa sponsorship. * Willing to work from our Fuengirola office five days per week. Desirable: * FastAPI, Flask or Django experience. * Experience with LLMs, RAG, AI APIs or data pipelines. * Docker, cloud deployment or CI/CD experience. * Redis, Celery or asynchronous Python experience. * Spanish and English language skills. LOCATION AND WORKING ARRANGEMENT This is a permanently office-based position in Fuengirola, five days per week. It is not a remote or hybrid role. The position may be particularly attractive to developers living in Fuengirola, Mijas, Benalmádena, Torremolinos, Marbella, Cártama or Alhaurín who currently commute into Málaga or the TechPark. SALARY €30,000-€33,000 gross per year, depending on experience. A formal performance and salary review will take place after six months. Any salary adjustment will be based on performance, contribution and delivered results. WHAT WE OFFER * The opportunity to build production AI products used by real field engineers. * Direct involvement in the complete product-development process. * Exposure to enterprise customers and real-world technical problems. * Professional development and practical AI experience. * An experienced, multicultural development team. * A creative environment where good ideas can quickly become working products. If you are a strong Python developer who wants to build useful AI products from the Costa del Sol, we would like to hear from you. Please submit your CV in English.

About the company

Already living on the Costa del Sol and tired of commuting into Málaga or the TechPark? Advanced Field Solutions is building production AI products from our Fuengirola office. This is an opportunity to work on genuinely interesting technology close to home, with real enterprise customers already involved. ABOUT AFS Advanced Field Solutions develops field-service software used by engineers working with organisations including London Underground, Mitsubishi Electric and Jones Engineering. We have already developed: * AFS Chat - engineers can speak to their device and instantly access company service history. * AFS Proximity - the device recognises when an engineer is approaching the next job and provides an automatic briefing. We are now building Engineer Assist, an AI-powered fault-diagnosis system. An engineer points a camera at broken equipment, and the system combines live visual information, manufacturer manuals and service history to help identify the fault. Mitsubishi is supplying
