Job description

Do you enjoy turning data into meaningful insights and helping shape the future of wildlife conservation? If so, we’re looking for a Nature Recovery Data Management Officer to join our Land Management Section and play a key role in supporting nature recovery across the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

Working with colleagues and partner organisations, you’ll develop and manage ecological data and GIS systems that help us understand, monitor and report on the condition of habitats and species throughout the National Park. Your work will provide the evidence that helps shape conservation priorities and informs important decisions about the future of one of the country’s most iconic protected landscapes., This is a varied role that combines data management, GIS, analysis and partnership working. You will:

  • Develop and manage ecological and spatial datasets that support nature recovery work across the National Park
  • Maintain systems that record, monitor and report progress against our nature recovery objectives
  • Analyse habitat and species data to produce reports, statistics and insights
  • Help develop GIS systems and processes that support colleagues across the Land Management Section
  • Work closely with Local Environmental Record Centres and other partners to improve data sharing and collaboration
  • Contribute to habitat suitability and predictive modelling that helps inform conservation priorities

Requirements

We’re looking for someone who enjoys working with data and has the skills to turn information into meaningful evidence and insight. You’ll have:

  • Experience of working on GIS or data management projects
  • Experience of managing and validating datasets
  • Strong GIS skills and an understanding of spatial data
  • Knowledge of data protection and data sharing requirements
  • Advanced Microsoft 365 skills
  • A Level 4 qualification (or above) in a GIS-related subject

A degree-level qualification in ecology, wildlife conservation or a related subject would be an advantage but isn’t essential.
