Job description
As an Engineering Manager, the client is seeking an experienced professional to lead and deliver complex data platform and analytics initiatives. The role requires a strong blend of technical expertise, programme delivery excellence, stakeholder management, and cross-functional leadership.
The successful candidate will collaborate closely with data engineering, analytics, platform, and business teams to plan, coordinate, and deliver scalable, high-quality data solutions., * Own end to end delivery of data and analytics programs, ensuring alignment with business goals, timelines, and quality standards.
- Plan, track, and manage complex technical dependencies across Snowflake data warehouse, dbt transformation pipelines, and GitHub-based development workflows.
- Collaborate with Data Engineers and Analytics Engineers to:
- Manage Snowflake architecture, performance, and cost optimization initiatives.
- Oversee dbt project delivery, testing strategies, and deployment governance.
- Define and enforce SDLC and CI/CD best practices using GitHub (pull requests, code reviews, branching strategies, release management).
- Create and maintain program artefacts including roadmaps, delivery plans, RAID logs, and technical documentation.
- Identify risks early and drive mitigation plans for data quality, security, scalability, and delivery timelines.
- Facilitate technical design discussions while translating complex concepts for non technical stakeholders.
- Drive continuous improvement of program delivery processes, tooling, and metrics.
- Ensure adherence to data governance, security, and compliance standards.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience as an Engineering Manager, Technical Program Manager, Technical Project Manager, or similar role.
- Strong hands on understanding of: Snowflake (data warehousing concepts, performance tuning basics, cost management), dbt (models, testing, documentation, environments, deployments), GitHub (version control, pull requests, CI/CD workflows) and Airflow.
- Proven experience managing data engineering or analytics platform programs.
- Solid understanding of modern data stacks, including ETL pipelines and cloud data platforms.
- Experience working in Agile environments.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage engineering teams and senior stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams and competing priorities with minimal supervision.
Desirable:
- Languages: Python (primary), SQL, Bash
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Experience with data quality frameworks and observability tools.
- SAFe, PMP, or Agile certifications.
- Prior experience supporting enterprise-scale data transformations.
Benefits & conditions
This is a hybrid role - you can work remotely in the UK and attend the London office 2 days per week.
This is a 6 month temporary contract to start ASAP
Day rate: Competitive Market rate
