Job description

  • Join Ideal Innovations, Inc. (I3), an SDVOSB supporting critical U.S. Government biometric and forensic missions.
  • Support and modernize FABIS, a mission-critical enterprise facial recognition platform used to process and analyze biometric data in support of national security, intelligence, and law enforcement operations.
  • The Sr. Lead Software Engineer manages, directs, coordinates, and provides technical direction for software sustainment, enhancement, testing, integration, and deployment activities while ensuring engineering best practices are followed.
  • Work with advanced technologies supporting facial recognition, biometric matching, large-scale image processing, examiner workflows, and reporting.
  • Hybrid position with primarily remote work and occasional on-site support in Bethesda, MD.
  • Collaborate directly with Government customers, operational users, engineers, and DevSecOps teams.
  • Contribute to the development, integration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and enhancement of a mature enterprise biometric platform.
  • Gain hands-on experience with C#/.NET, Microsoft SQL Server, system integration, DevSecOps, and production support.
  • Take ownership of technical challenges from investigation through deployment and resolution.
  • Directly impact the reliability, availability, and evolution of FABIS in support of national security missions.

Typical Day:

The typical workday will include working on software engineering tasks to make enhancements to the existing system and operational support to diagnose and/or correct any system abnormalities. It is beneficial to visit the operational system at least once a week to be familiar with the operational system, elicit requirements from users, maintain account access, and collaborate with Government customers, operational users, and cross-functional engineering teams to identify improvements and deliver mission-focused solutions.

Tasks:

  • Maintain and enhance the current system
  • Provide general software development support as directed by the needs of the customer.
  • Update project documentation for each release.
  • Provide tasking and time estimates for each Program Increment, * Position is primarily remote, with occasional on-site support (preferably weekly) at an operational facility in the Bethesda, MD area.
  • Standard work schedule is during weekday business hours.
  • Occasional after-hours work and emergency maintenance support may be required.

Requirements

  • Certifications: DoD 8570 - IAT Level II Certification (e.g. Security+ CE).

If no certification, must be able to obtain certification within 90 days of offer acceptance (exam fee and training materials will be paid for, or provided by I3).

  • Software development experience in C#
  • Technical lead experience supporting software development, system sustainment, integration, and deployment.
  • Experience with WPF, .NET website development and REST API
  • Experience working with relational databases
  • Strong communication skills

Desired Qualifications:

  • Education: Computer Science or IT-related Bachelor’s Degree
  • Experience supporting enterprise biometric, image processing, identity management, or similar mission-critical systems preferred.
  • Familiarity with RabbitMQ Messaging Bus
  • Familiarity with biometric systems and biometric SDKs
  • Familiarity with code versioning tools, particularly Git
  • Proficiency in scripting languages
  • Understanding of application-level security
  • Knowledge of logging and log analysis systems
  • Proficiency in C# programming, with the ability to understand, maintain, and contribute to applications built on these languages and their respective frameworks, Bachelors of Computer Science (preferred), Strong communication skills (required) Experience working with relational databases (required) Experience with WPF, .NET website development and REST API (required) Technical lead experience supporting software development, system sustainment, integration, and deployment.
