Job description

We are seeking an experienced SQL Server Migration Specialist to lead a comprehensive database migration project from SQL Server 2016 to SQL Server 2022. This is a hands-on technical role requiring deep expertise in database migration, reporting services, and integration platforms. You will work independently to ensure a smooth, validated transition of critical database infrastructure and associated components., * Execute full migration of SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services) reports from legacy SQL Server 2016 environment to SQL Server 2022, including comprehensive testing and validation

Migrate and optimize SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services) packages to the new SQL Server 2022 platform, ensuring all workflows function correctly post-migration
Assess, redesign, and migrate SSIS packages to Azure Data Factory, modernizing data integration processes for cloud-based operations
Develop, test, and maintain custom scripts and utilities using VB.NET or C#.NET to support migration activities and post-migration operations
Write and optimize complex queries and stored procedures using T-SQL and PL/SQL
Conduct thorough testing and validation of all migrated components to ensure data integrity and system functionality
Document migration processes, configurations, and lessons learned
Work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining regular communication with stakeholders

Requirements

Minimum 5 years of professional experience with SQL Server administration, development, or migration projects
Demonstrated expertise in SQL Server 2016 and SQL Server 2022 environments
Hands-on experience migrating SSRS reports and SSIS packages in production environments
Proven experience with Azure Data Factory and cloud-based data integration
Strong proficiency in T-SQL and PL/SQL query development and optimization
Solid programming skills in VB.NET or C#.NET (or both)
Experience with database migration planning, execution, and validation methodologies
Ability to work independently and manage multiple migration workstreams
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with SQL Server 2019 or other intermediate versions
Familiarity with Azure SQL Database or other Azure data services
Knowledge of data warehousing or business intelligence platforms
Experience with migration tools such as SQL Server Migration Assistant (SSMA) or third-party migration utilities
Certifications in SQL Server or Azure
