Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled API Product & MCP Engineer to design, develop, govern, and support scalable API products and modern integration solutions. This role will focus on enabling API consumers, establishing API governance standards, supporting secure API onboarding and consumption patterns, and building reliable API platforms that meet enterprise scalability, security, and usability requirements.

The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience with REST APIs, API management, API product design, Swagger/OpenAPI, API security, and modern integration patterns, along with practical experience building, deploying, and maintaining MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers for AI-enabled integrations., * Design, develop, and maintain scalable RESTful APIs and API products aligned with enterprise architecture standards.

Define API product strategies, reusable API patterns, consumer experiences, and lifecycle management practices.
Build and maintain MCP servers to securely expose enterprise tools, services, APIs, and data to AI/LLM applications.
Develop MCP integrations using Python and modern API/integration frameworks.
Manage APIs through enterprise API Management platforms, including API publishing, versioning, policies, routing, throttling, and monitoring.
Create and maintain comprehensive Swagger/OpenAPI specifications and documentation.
Implement API security controls including OAuth 2.0, JWT, API keys, authentication, authorization, rate limiting, and encryption.
Establish and enforce API governance standards, design guidelines, naming conventions, versioning strategies, and lifecycle policies.
Support secure onboarding of internal and external API consumers.
Partner with application, cloud, security, data, and architecture teams to develop modern integration patterns.
Troubleshoot API connectivity, authentication, performance, availability, and integration issues.
Implement API observability, logging, metrics, monitoring, and operational controls.
Develop reusable API components and integration patterns to improve developer productivity and consumer adoption.
Participate in API design reviews, architecture discussions, technical documentation, and governance processes.
Ensure APIs and MCP services meet enterprise security, reliability, scalability, and compliance requirements.

Strong hands-on experience developing REST APIs and API products.
Experience with API Management platforms and API lifecycle management.
Strong knowledge of Swagger/OpenAPI specifications and API documentation.
Hands-on experience with MCP (Model Context Protocol) and building/maintaining MCP servers.
Experience with authentication and authorization mechanisms such as OAuth 2.0, JWT, API keys, and RBAC.
Understanding of API governance, versioning, throttling, rate limiting, and security policies.
Experience integrating APIs with enterprise applications, microservices, databases, and cloud services.
Strong understanding of JSON, HTTP/HTTPS, REST, webhooks, and integration patterns.
Experience with Git-based development and CI/CD practices.
Strong troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with FastAPI, Flask, or similar Python frameworks.
Experience with API gateways such as Apigee, Azure API Management, AWS API Gateway, Kong, MuleSoft, or IBM API Connect.
Experience deploying APIs and MCP servers in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
Familiarity with LLM, Generative AI, AI agents, tool calling, and enterprise AI integration patterns.
Experience with API analytics, observability, and performance monitoring.
Understanding of microservices and event-driven architecture.
Experience implementing automated API testing and security testing.
Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab, or Azure DevOps., * Bachelor’’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field preferred.
5+ years of experience in API development, API management, integration engineering, or a related software engineering discipline.
Demonstrated experience delivering production-grade APIs and enterprise integrations.
Practical experience with MCP server development and AI/LLM integration is highly preferred.
