Job description

Network Engineer with key skills in enterprise networking, routing & switching, Cisco and NVIDIA Mellanox is sought by a high growth technology organisation based in South Birmingham. Working within national infrastructure, this Network Engineer will join a close-knit technical team delivering secure, high-performance networking solutions across business-critical and highly secure environments.

This is a hands-on engineering role where the Network Engineer will take ownership of the design, implementation, configuration and support of complex enterprise network infrastructure, alongside attending customer sites to deliver installations, upgrades, network audits and technical health checks.

Requirements

This role would suit an experienced Network Engineer with a strong background in enterprise networking who enjoys solving complex technical problems and is comfortable combining hands-on engineering with customer engagement.

In return, this Network Engineer can expect a dynamic, engaging and technically challenging environment with excellent progression opportunities and the autonomy to take ownership of complex networking projects using modern data centre technologies.

Due to the sensitive nature of the work, eligibility for MOD DV/STRAP clearance is essential, alongside a full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to customer sites.

This Network Engineer based in South Birmingham should have most of the following key skills:

  • Strong enterprise networking experience across routing & switching
  • knowledge of BGP, OSPF, VLANs, VRRP/HSRP and Spanning Tree
  • Strong understanding of QoS, Multicast, IPv4/IPv6 and High Availability networking
  • Experience with switching platforms
  • Modern data centre networking exposure including EVPN, VXLAN, MLAG and Leaf-Spine architectures
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills across routing, switching, firewalls and connectivity
  • Experience working within secure or air-gapped environments
  • Strong customer-facing communication skills with the ability to take ownership of technical projects
