Job description
We’re excited to be partnering with our client to recruit a Test and Integration Manager to join their team in Greenwich., * Lead industrialisation and test integration of complex electro-optical systems (optical amplifiers, transmission systems, photonics modules, etc.)
- Design and deploy production test benches and automated test platforms for new product lines.
- Drive NPI readiness from prototype through to high-volume manufacturing release
- Own development of test strategies, validation methods, and test automation frameworks.
- Lead CAPEX planning, test equipment procurement, and manufacturing test infrastructure build-out.
- Interface with R&D optical engineers, electronics teams, production, quality, and suppliers.
- Monitor and improve manufacturing KPIs (yield, test time, quality, reliability).
- Lead PFMEA, FAT/SAT, and technical risk mitigation for production test systems.
- Drive continuous improvement in test throughput, yield, and robustness of optical systems.
- Provide technical leadership and development of multidisciplinary engineering teams (managing direct and indirect reports across multiple locations).
- Act as technical authority for production test and industrialisation of optical systems.
- Weekly Department Reporting: Provide weekly reports on the performance of the Test & Database team, ensuring alignment with project goals and timelines.
- Audit and Review Management: Manage audits and customer reviews to ensure compliance with standards and expectations.
- Department KPIs: Monitor and manage department KPIs, ensuring that the team’s performance aligns with overall business objectives.
Requirements
This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in bringing complex optical systems from development into full-scale manufacturing. We’re looking for a hands-on engineer with strong experience in electro-optical and hardware industrialisation - this role is firmly focused on real-world systems, so a purely software testing background won’t be the right fit., * Degree in Electrical, Electronic, Optical, Mechanical, or similar engineering discipline.
- Strong background in Test & Integration / Industrialisation of hardware systems.
- Strong hands-on use of tools such as LabVIEW, TestStand, Python (for hardware test automation).
- Proven delivery of NPI into production environments for complex physical products.
- Experience in regulated / high-precision industries (optical communications, aerospace, defence, space, telecom hardware, etc.)
- Experience managing or leading engineering teams.
- Knowledge of CAPEX planning, supplier engagement, and equipment procurement processes.
