Design Engineer

The Opportunity An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Design Engineer to join a leading engineering contractor, playing a key role in delivering high-value infrastructure projects and driving technical excellence across design activities.

Your duties and responsibilities will be

• Oversee and coordinate external design consultants to ensure deliverables are produced on time and meet client specifications
• Act as a technical lead for design elements, monitoring progress and reporting updates to senior engineering leadership
• Manage design queries, requests for information, and workshop outputs while ensuring clear communication across project teams
• Review drawings and design submissions, ensuring compliance with project scope, processes, and required standards
• Support design programme management, maintain design schedules, and contribute to BIM coordination and document control

• Proven experience in both design and construction environments within engineering or infrastructure projects
• Strong understanding of design management processes, including technical queries and stakeholder coordination
• Knowledge of CDM regulations and Principal Designer responsibilities
• Experience working with digital engineering tools, including BIM and CAD processes
• Background in heavy civil engineering or tunnelling projects would be advantageous
