Senior Java Developer

We are looking for highly experienced Senior Java Developers / Senior Software Engineers who can hit the ground running and take a strong technical leadership role within an Agile engineering environment., Core technical requirements are:

·Strong, recent Java development experience

·Excellent Spring Boot experience

·Strong AWS experience

·Hands-on Kafka experience

·Hands-on MongoDB experience

·Experience designing and developing robust, scalable and production-ready applications

·Strong automated testing and integration experience

·Experience with software architecture, technical design and system integration

·Strong understanding of application resilience, availability and operational stability

Senior-level expectations:

This is not simply a Senior Java Developer who codes. Candidates need to demonstrate the ability to operate at a senior/technical leadership level.

Should have experience:

·Providing technical leadership across software engineering teams

·Coaching and mentoring junior and less experienced developers

·Reviewing code, designs and technical approaches

·Setting and promoting software engineering best practices

·Designing reusable libraries, services and integrations

·Contributing to longer-term product and engineering strategies

·Investigating and resolving complex technical/infrastructure issues

·Supporting production applications, including 3rd-line support

·Leading knowledge sharing and contributing to wider engineering communities

·Working closely with Architects and other senior technical stakeholders

·Making informed technical decisions around risk, performance, resilience and scalability

Key profile:

The ideal candidate will be an experienced Java/Spring Boot engineer who has worked extensively with AWS, Kafka and MongoDB and has a strong track record of delivering production-grade applications.

They should be confident working independently from day one, able to take ownership of technical problems and capable of guiding and mentoring other engineers. Candidates should also be comfortable contributing to technical strategy, architecture/design discussions and engineering best practice rather than focusing solely on development tasks., Candidates need enough depth of Java experience to hit the ground running, alongside strong Spring Boot, AWS, Kafka and MongoDB experience. They should also be able to demonstrate technical leadership and mentoring/coaching of junior developers.
