Job description
This role offers support and works directly with the Carrier Manager and Planners on a daily basis to provide carrier and operational service in a variety of functions. Prioritization, organization, planning and strong customer service skills will elevate this position for future growth.
Major Responsibilities:
Identify and negotiate rate with available carriers for existing loads.
· Post open loads, set benchmarks and call on carrier to book day to day spot freight.
· Monitors external/Internal load boards and works with Carrier Service manager and planners to support service.
· Maximize profitability through negotiation with carriers.
· Utilize TMS efficiently to maximize productivity
· Collects and maintains carrier set up, authority, contacts and insurance information.
Assists with operational functions on a daily basis.
· Ensures team objectives have been met; offers support, as needed.
· Communicates with service providers to ensure on time performance goals are met. Manages frequent phone and email communications, as necessary.
· Works directly with carriers and brokers to ensure safety and compliance on all movements of freight.
Troubleshoots operational issues.
· Takes ownership of issues and problems; generates solutions for customer deliverables.
· Addresses any additional issues (truck breakdowns, accidents, missing POs, etc.) and provides missing data to appropriate internal and external contacts.
Communicates with outside customers for operational transactions.
· Builds carrier relations and loyalty by consistently exceeding expectations.
· Works to ensure on-time performance and correct delivery/pick-up statuses are carried out efficiently.

- Provides customer service for internal affiliates; is available for problem solving.
- Remains in touch with external customers, such as Carriers, Shippers, Dispatchers and Customer Service Representatives, to obtain information updates and ensure all issues are taken care of until fully completed.
Business Impact:
- Ensures FoodInTransit is best represented to customers through excellent communications skills.
- Provides timely and accurate follow-up for customers to promote FoodInTransit’s efficient operational processes.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Logistics?, Do you have a Bachelor’s degree?, Type & Amount of Experience:
· Minimum of 1-2 years logistics and customer service experience required
· Previous experience in an operational setting preferred
· Strong customer service skills with a satisfaction drive
· Clear communication skills and the ability to prioritize and provide timely follow-up
Education:
· Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience
Technical Expertise:
· Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.)
· Previous experience with DAT, Truckstop.com or other load posting sitesffice (Word, Excel, etc.)
