Job description

Senior Director of Technology and Digital Innovation District Vision The Camden City School District will provide a learning environment where all students are valued, accepted, and prepared to positively impact their lives, the community, and the world., The Senior Director of Technology and Digital Innovation provides strategic leadership, operational oversight, and long-range planning for all district technology systems, infrastructure, cybersecurity, instructional technology integration, and enterprise technology operations for the Camden City School District. The Senior Director is responsible for ensuring that technology systems, digital tools, network infrastructure, and information systems effectively support student learning, district operations, employee productivity, data security, and organizational efficiency. The Senior Director leads the district’s vision for technology modernization and innovation while ensuring equitable access to digital resources, high-quality technology support services, and secure, reliable technology operations across all schools and departments. The position oversees districtwide technology planning, cybersecurity initiatives, technology procurement, infrastructure management, digital learning systems, data governance, and enterprise systems integration aligned to district strategic priorities. The Senior Director works collaboratively with district leadership, school administrators, instructional staff, and operational departments to ensure technology systems support instructional excellence, operational effectiveness, data-informed decision-making, and continuous improvement., Technology Leadership and Strategic Planning

  • Develops and implements a comprehensive districtwide technology strategy aligned to the district’s strategic plan, operational priorities, and instructional goals
  • Leads long-range technology planning, infrastructure modernization, and digital innovation initiatives
  • Establishes district technology standards, operational protocols, and technology governance procedures
  • Advises the School Business Administrator and senior leadership regarding technology initiatives, emerging technologies, cybersecurity risks, and operational technology priorities
  • Collaborates with district leadership to ensure technology systems support student achievement, operational effectiveness, and equitable access to learning opportunities
  • Develops and monitors departmental goals, performance metrics, and continuous improvement plans Technology Infrastructure and Systems Management

  • Oversees districtwide technology infrastructure including: o network operations, o wireless systems, o servers, o cloud-based systems, o telecommunications, o VoIP systems, o endpoint management, o device management systems, o and enterprise applications

  • Oversees technology asset management, inventory control, replacement cycles, and equipment standardization
  • Develops and implements lifecycle management plans for district technology equipment and infrastructure
  • Ensures reliability, scalability, and operational continuity of all district technology systems
  • Oversees disaster recovery planning, backup systems, continuity of operations, and technology emergency response procedures
  • Coordinates technology infrastructure upgrades, installations, maintenance, and repairs Cybersecurity, Data Privacy, and Compliance

  • Leads districtwide cybersecurity planning, prevention, monitoring, and incident response efforts
  • Establishes and implements cybersecurity protocols, access controls, and system security measures
  • Oversees compliance with applicable federal, state, and local technology and data privacy laws and regulations including: o FERPA, o COPPA, o CIPA, o and other applicable student and employee data privacy requirements

  • Develops and implements districtwide cybersecurity awareness and digital safety training programs
  • Coordinates technology risk assessments and system vulnerability reviews
  • Oversees identity and access management procedures for district systems and applications Instructional Technology and Digital Learning

  • Collaborates with Teaching and Learning departments to support instructional technology integration and digital learning initiatives
  • Supports implementation and evaluation of instructional technology tools and digital learning platforms
  • Oversees professional development related to instructional technology and digital systems
  • Supports the effective integration of technology into classroom instruction and district operations
  • Assists in evaluating digital learning tools, software applications, and educational technology resources
  • Promotes equitable student access to technology resources and digital learning opportunities Data Systems and Technology Operations

  • Oversees integration and interoperability between district systems including student information systems, finance systems, human resources systems, transportation systems, assessment platforms, and operational databases
  • Supports district data reporting, analytics, and operational data management systems
  • Establishes procedures for software application review, approval, and implementation
  • Oversees technology procurement processes, vendor management, licensing agreements, and service contracts
  • Monitors technology service level agreements and vendor performance
  • Coordinates E-rate applications, technology grants, and related funding opportunities where Leadership and Supervision

  • Supervises and evaluates assigned technology department staff in accordance with district policies and procedures
  • Provides leadership, coaching, support, and professional growth opportunities for department staff
  • Establishes high expectations for customer service, responsiveness, and operational excellence
  • Develops departmental procedures, workflows, and accountability systems
  • Coordinates cross-functional technology initiatives with schools and departments
  • Supports districtwide operational and strategic initiatives as assigned Core Competencies

Requirements

Do you have a valid Driver’s License license?, Do you have experience in Project leadership?, Do you have a Bachelor’s degree?, + Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Educational Technology, or a related field

  • Minimum seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in technology leadership, systems administration, infrastructure management, or enterprise technology operations
  • Minimum three (3) years of successful supervisory or management experience
  • Demonstrated experience leading large-scale technology initiatives, systems implementations, or enterprise operational projects
  • Experience managing technology infrastructure, network systems, hardware lifecycle management, and enterprise applications
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, data privacy requirements, and technology governance practices
  • Strong project management, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Required criminal history background check, physical and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status
  • A valid driver’s license or state issued ID, valid insurance and registration Preferred

  • Master’s degree in Information Technology, Educational Technology, Business Administration, Public Administration, Cybersecurity, or related field
  • Industry certifications such as: o CCNP o CCNA o MCSE o CompTIA Security+ o CISSP o Google or Microsoft enterprise certifications

  • Experience working in a K - 12 educational setting
  • Experience with student information systems, educational technology systems, and instructional technology integration
  • Experience with E-rate, educational procurement, and technology grant administration
  • New Jersey Supervisor, Principal, or School Administrator Certificate preferred but not required, + Strategic leadership and systems thinking
  • Strong operational and organizational management skills
  • Expertise in technology infrastructure and enterprise systems
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity and data governance practices
  • Strong project management and implementation skills
  • Ability to analyze data and drive evidence-based decision-making
  • Strong collaboration and relationship-building skills

Benefits & conditions

Performance shall be evaluated annually in accordance with Board policy, administrative regulations, and district leadership procedures. Reports To: School Business Administrator/Board Secretary Supervises: Work Year: Twelve (12) Months Classification: Non-Affiliated Administrator Minimum Starting Salary: $120,000.00 Maximum Starting Salary: $150,000.00 Residency Requirement Under New Jersey’s “New Jersey First Act” (N.J.S.A. 52:14-7), all employees of New Jersey public school districts must maintain bona fide New Jersey residency as a condition of employment. Candidates must already reside in New Jersey or establish residency within the required timeframe after hire. Current employees who were hired on or before September 1, 2011areexemptfrom this requirement and may continue to reside outside the state. In limited circumstances, applicants may request a residency waiver through the state’s Employee Residency Review Committee if they can demonstrate critical need or hardship; approval is not guaranteed.
