Bring your experience and expertise to our existing systems by working closely with your new peers to help influence the technology roadmap for our application stack

Requirements

You’ll need to have:React, Angular, 3+ years experience in Ruby on Rails, building large-scale client-facing web applications 3+ years experience in front end web development We use Vue.js extensively, but if you’re fluent in etc., that works too The front-end ecosystem is complex and evolving, so rather than expertise in a certain framework, we’re looking for someone who knows the fundamentals of browsers, CSS, and vanilla JavaScript. Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, similar field of study or equivalent work experience

We’d love to see: A passion for testing A deep understanding of modern web applications and issues related to scale, security, availability, performance, cross-browser compatibility, and continuous deployment.

Sr Ruby On Rails Engineer Location: NYC (Hybrid, 3 Days/week Onsite) Duration: 6 Months contract Local Candidates needed; In-person interview required after the 1st round of Video interview W2 need candidates authorized to work for any employer; cannot sponsor Interview Process: Round 1: Live Coding interview process (Zoom) Round 2: In-Person (Coding, System Design, Behavioral Round) Who we are: The AI/Core/Search Experience team is responsible for building client-facing apps. We also offer enterprise APIs and MCP servers to make our technology available to customers right where they need it. Our website is a modern JavaScript front-end backed by Rails, Java and Python APIs that deliver data from our core search engine and dozens of other microservices. Our apps are containerized and deployed across datacenters and the AWS cloud. We’re looking for someone to focus on the Rails and front-end tiers. To complement our collaborative culture, we’ve also invested in tooling that foregrounds developer ergonomics. We ship code early and often, and have a whole team dedicated to making that easy. We have a mature PaaS system which makes our CI workflow fully automated and helps deploy every PR to its own testing environment, so you get feedback quickly. Finally, as the largest web product within us, we’re able to leverage the considerable resources of the wider company (services, tooling, data centers), while also setting standards across the company for web-facing software. We’ll trust you to: Engage with subject matter experts to understand and refine the scope of user problems, working together to develop innovative technical solutions with a focus on meeting our users where they are Lead the modernization effort to improve security posture of our front-end tech stack Design and implement sustainable applications with a focus on customer facing APIs, single page frontends, hybrid cloud architectures and proactive system monitoring
