Job description

Insight Global is seeking a Test Development Engineer to support a prominent defense company’s hardware and manufacturing teams. This individual will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying automated test equipment (ATE) and production test systems for complex electronic products.

Responsibilities include architecting complete test solutions, defining test methodologies, selecting and integrating instrumentation, designing test hardware and fixtures, developing automated test software, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and supporting products throughout validation, manufacturing, and production.

The ideal candidate has a strong Electrical Engineering foundation and has personally built automated test systems from the ground up, including hardware, software, instrumentation, and manufacturing integration.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field

5+ years of experience developing automated test systems (ATE) for electronic products

Experience designing and deploying complete test solutions from concept through production

Strong Electrical Engineering fundamentals, including analog and digital circuit analysis

Experience with test hardware design, schematic capture, PCB layout, and board bring-up

Experience integrating and automating test equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, digital multimeters, signal generators, and electronic loads

Experience developing automated test software using Python, C, C++, C#, or similar programming languages

Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis experience involving both hardware and software systems

Experience validating embedded systems and hardware interfaces including SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, and Ethernet

Ability to independently architect test strategies and measurement solutions for new products

Experience working directly with design, manufacturing, and quality teams

Demonstrated ownership of test systems throughout development, deployment, and suppor Experience supporting manufacturing or high-volume production test environments

Experience with PXI-based test systems and instrumentation platforms

Experience with Labview

Experience designing custom test fixtures, interface boards, and validation hardware

Experience with manufacturing yield improvement initiatives

Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Gage R&R methodologies

Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) activities

Experience working with RF, wireless, or mixed-signal electronic systems

Experience developing hardware validation, qualification, or production test plans

Experience mentoring junior engineers or leading test development efforts

Experience supporting aerospace, defense, automotive, or other high-reliability industries
