Senior COBOL Developer / Technical Lead - Consultant

We are seeking a Senior COBOL Developer / Technical Lead to support the maintenance, enhancement, and production support of critical South Carolina DMV business systems., Develop, enhance, test, and maintain complex COBOL applications. Analyze production issues and provide Level 3 technical support. Work with business users and analysts to define requirements and technical solutions. Lead technical design, development, testing, and deployment activities. Troubleshoot applications in a Windows Client-Server environment using Oracle SQL. Mentor developers and provide technical guidance to the team.

8+ years of hands-on COBOL/Micro Focus Visual COBOL development experience. Strong experience with Oracle SQL and Windows-based Client-Server applications. Experience supporting complex, mission-critical applications and production environments. Strong troubleshooting, analysis, design, testing, and debugging skills. Previous technical lead, senior developer, or SME experience. Excellent communication and ability to work independently. Preferred: Government/state agency experience. Experience with Oracle 19c+, .NET/C#, or Visual Studio. Visual COBOL certification. Experience mentoring junior developers. Important: Candidates must currently reside in SC, NC, or GA and be willing to work fully onsite in Blythewood, SC. Candidates must relocate to SC at least 5 business days before the start date to complete required fingerprinting. CJIS certification will be sponsored by the client.
