Job description

A major enterprise organization in the aviation industry is hiring an Application Security Engineer to join an established global security team in Fort Worth, TX. This is a mature Application Security environment with existing tools and processes, so the focus will be on strengthening and improving an established program rather than building one from scratch.

This role is centered on identifying and reducing security risk throughout the software development lifecycle. You will work directly with developers to understand vulnerabilities within application code, determine their severity and impact, and guide engineering teams through remediation. The ideal candidate brings a strong security background along with hands-on software development knowledge and understands how security fits into modern development practices.

You will also help maintain application security standards, improve automated security testing, and develop scalable security controls across enterprise applications and APIs., What You Will Be Doing Daily Responsibilities

  • Review security vulnerabilities within enterprise applications and application code
  • Work directly with software engineers to understand, prioritize, and resolve security issues
  • Maintain and improve application security requirements throughout the SDLC
  • Configure and support application security testing capabilities including SAST, SCA, DAST, secret scanning, IaC scanning, and API security
  • Establish secure coding requirements and application security controls
  • Help teams incorporate security earlier into software design and development
  • Perform security reviews and support threat modeling activities
  • Translate security standards into practical controls and developer-focused solutions
  • Develop automation to streamline security testing and vulnerability management
  • Improve processes for tracking vulnerabilities through remediation
  • Collaborate with application development, cybersecurity, architecture, and engineering teams

Requirements

  • 3+ years of Cybersecurity Engineering or Application Security experience
  • Strong background in Application Security
  • Previous software development experience or strong knowledge of application code
  • Understanding of vulnerabilities across languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript, or C#
  • Experience working directly with developers to investigate and remediate security findings
  • Experience with multiple application security capabilities such as SAST, SCA, secret scanning, IaC scanning, DAST, or API security
  • Strong understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Experience integrating security controls into development workflows
  • Ability to prioritize vulnerabilities based on risk rather than simply generating scan reports
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field or equivalent experience

Desired Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years of Application Security or related cybersecurity experience
  • Security automation experience using Python, Java, or PowerShell
  • Experience with vulnerability management and remediation automation
  • Knowledge of secure coding standards and secure application architecture
  • Experience with threat modeling and secure design reviews
  • Familiarity with authentication, authorization, and application data protection
  • Exposure to Azure or AWS
  • Experience using AI-assisted or automated vulnerability remediation solutions
  • Airline or transportation industry experience
