Job description

The Platform Engineer / DevSecOps Engineer will design, build, automate, secure, and operate the AWS cloud platform capabilities that support a large-scale agile software development and platform modernization program for the GrantSolutions contract. This role is responsible for enabling reliable, repeatable, secure, and compliant software delivery through modern DevSecOps practices, including CI/CD pipeline automation, Infrastructure as Code, container platform support, cloud security controls, automated testing and scanning, observability, release automation, and operational readiness. The Platform Engineer / DevSecOps Engineer will work closely with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, software engineers, solution architects, security teams, vendors, executive leadership, and Federal stakeholders to ensure the modernized platform is scalable, resilient, secure, maintainable, and aligned to program objectives.

What You Will Do:

We are seeking a strong Platform Engineer / DevSecOps Engineer to support the GrantSolutions platform modernization effort by building and improving the cloud engineering, automation, deployment, security, and operational capabilities needed to deliver modern software at scale. This role will help establish and operate the AWS-based platform patterns, shared DevSecOps services, pipelines, controls, and automation that enable multiple Scrum teams and vendor partners to deliver securely and consistently while supporting continuity of the legacy system throughout the transition.

The Platform Engineer / DevSecOps Engineer will support cloud platform engineering, CI/CD implementation, infrastructure automation, security integration, environment management, release enablement, observability, and operational readiness in an iterative modernization environment. This individual will help deliver a secure and automated engineering platform that enables new vendor-delivered capabilities to integrate with legacy components as the modernized platform is built out over time. The role requires hands-on AWS cloud experience, strong automation skills, practical DevSecOps judgment, and close collaboration with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, project managers, solution architects, security teams, vendors, executive leadership, and Federal stakeholders to align platform delivery with architecture standards, governance expectations, release readiness, compliance requirements, and long-term modernization objectives.

  • Design, build, automate, secure, and operate AWS cloud platform capabilities that support a large-scale GrantSolutions platform modernization program delivered through iterative agile execution.
  • Implement and maintain modern DevSecOps practices, including secure CI/CD pipelines, automated build and deployment workflows, quality gates, vulnerability scanning, secrets management, policy enforcement, and release automation.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve Infrastructure as Code using tools such as Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, AWS CDK, or comparable technologies to support repeatable, auditable, and compliant environment provisioning.
  • Support cloud-native application delivery patterns using AWS services, container platforms, serverless services, managed databases, networking, identity and access management, logging, monitoring, and security services.
  • Partner with software engineering teams to standardize reusable pipeline templates, deployment patterns, environment configurations, shared libraries, and automation scripts that improve delivery speed, consistency, and reliability.
  • Embed security early and continuously across the software delivery lifecycle through automated static analysis, dependency scanning, container/image scanning, infrastructure scanning, configuration validation, and compliance evidence generation.
  • Implement and support observability practices, including centralized logging, metrics, dashboards, alerts, tracing, operational health checks, and production readiness monitoring across modernized and legacy-integrated capabilities.
  • Support secure environment management, including configuration management, access control, network segmentation, encryption, secrets handling, backup considerations, disaster recovery support, and change/release coordination.
  • Collaborate with solution architects, security teams, vendors, and Federal stakeholders to ensure platform capabilities align with enterprise architecture guidance, FedRAMP Moderate expectations, NIST controls, governance standards, and program security requirements.
  • Troubleshoot platform, pipeline, deployment, integration, performance, and operational issues; identify root causes; implement automation or process improvements; and support continuous improvement of the engineering platform.

Requirements

  • Must be able to OBTAIN and MAINTAIN a Federal or DoD “PUBLIC TRUST”; candidates must obtain approved adjudication of their PUBLIC TRUST prior to onboarding with Guidehouse. Candidates with an ACTIVE PUBLIC TRUST or SUITABILITY are preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of FIVE (5) years of experience in platform engineering, DevSecOps, cloud engineering, infrastructure automation, site reliability engineering, systems engineering, or related technical roles.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS services including ECS/EKS, Lambda, API Gateway, EventBridge, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, CloudWatch, IAM, and Systems Manager.
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, or similar tools.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar automation frameworks.
  • Experience implementing and supporting DevSecOps practices, including automated testing, vulnerability scanning, secrets management, and secure software delivery.
  • Experience integrating security controls into pipelines, including static code analysis, dependency scanning, container/image scanning, infrastructure scanning, secrets detection, artifact management, and security quality gates.
  • Experience with AWS identity, access management, networking, logging, monitoring, encryption, secrets management, and security services, including practical application of least privilege and secure-by-default patterns.
  • Strong experience with containerization technologies including Docker and container orchestration platforms such as ECS, EKS, or Kubernetes.
  • Experience managing application deployments, environment configuration, release automation, and production support activities.
  • Experience implementing platform observability through monitoring, logging, alerting, tracing, and operational dashboards using tools such as CloudWatch, ELK, Grafana, Prometheus, Datadog, or similar.
  • Experience supporting highly available, scalable, and resilient cloud environments, including disaster recovery and operational readiness activities.
  • Experience with Linux administration, shell scripting, and automation using Python, Bash, or similar scripting languages.
  • Experience troubleshooting infrastructure, networking, application, and deployment issues across distributed cloud environments.
  • Familiarity with networking concepts including VPCs, load balancers, DNS, security groups, WAF, VPNs, and private connectivity patterns.
  • Ability to create reusable platform patterns, pipeline templates, runbooks, automation scripts, environment standards, and technical documentation for engineering teams.
  • Experience troubleshooting cloud infrastructure, pipelines, deployments, environment configuration, performance, availability, access, and integration issues across complex technical environments.
  • Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), agile delivery, release management, change management, operational readiness, and continuous improvement practices.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with software engineers, architects, security teams, vendors, operations teams, Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and Federal stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with a focus on automation, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts, platform standards, operational issues, and risk trade-offs clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
