Job description

Stay hands-on with around 90% of the role focused on backend development

We are a growing business within the telecommunications and online payments space, working on a large, high-throughput platform. This is a remote-first Principal Software Developer role based around our Newbury office, with only 2-3 visits per year expected, though you are welcome to spend more time there if you prefer. You will join our 16-person R&D development team, made up largely of senior engineers, and benefit from monthly and quarterly all-hands events including summer and Christmas gatherings. Requirements

Strong experience with Java or Kotlin on JVM 11+
Strong experience with Spring Boot
Strong experience in enterprise backend development
Strong experience with REST APIs and microservices
Strong experience with SQL and NoSQL databases
Strong experience with Docker and Kubernetes
Strong experience with Git and modern development practices
Comfortable operating at Principal level, making technical decisions, solving complex problems, and helping other engineers develop
Desirable experience with telecommunications billing
Desirable experience with Azure
Desirable experience with CI/CD
Desirable experience with Linux
Desirable experience with Redis
Desirable experience with Elasticsearch or additional programming languages
