Job description

You’ll design, build, and operate scalable backend services that power our identity verification and fraud prevention products. You’ll work closely with Engineering, Product, Infrastructure, and Data Science/ML teams and take ownership of software from design through production.

  • Design, build, test, and operate backend services, APIs, and microservices.
  • Develop reliable, secure, and maintainable production software.
  • Work on distributed systems, asynchronous workflows, messaging, and event-driven architectures.
  • Contribute to technical design and make thoughtful engineering trade-offs.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and improve system reliability and observability.
  • Participate in code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD, and engineering best practices.
  • Collaborate with globally distributed, cross-functional teams to solve customer and business problems.

Requirements

  • Practical software engineering experience building backend applications or services.
  • Strong programming skills in Go, Java, Python, or a comparable backend language.
  • Good understanding of data structures, algorithms, APIs, microservices, and distributed systems fundamentals.
  • Experience working with SQL and/or NoSQL databases.
  • Understanding of asynchronous processing, messaging, retries, fault tolerance, and service-to-service communication.
  • Familiarity with cloud-native technologies such as AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka or equivalent technologies.
  • Understanding of source control, automated testing, CI/CD, and modern software development practices.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical problems methodically and take ownership of solutions through production.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.

  • Permanent right to work in the UK is required; Socure does not provide visa sponsorship for this role.
  • Candidates must be based in London or within a commutable distance, with the ability to attend the office as needed.
