Job description
Insight Global is seeking a Software Engineer to support the development of mission-critical Navy training and simulation systems. This role is focused on building and maintaining C++ and Java applications in a Linux environment while partnering closely with integration, test, and systems teams to deliver high-fidelity training capabilities.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
-Write, develop, and maintain C++ and Java code for simulation and training applications
-Participate in Agile sprint cycles, including planning, development, and reviews
-Troubleshoot and resolve software issues and defects across applications
-Collaborate with systems, integration, and test teams to ensure end-to-end functionality
-Support integration and testing efforts in lab and production environments
-Contribute to technical documentation, including design notes and code comments
-Participate in code reviews and follow secure coding best practices
-Assist with system deployments and upgrades, including occasional on-site support
-Take on increasing ownership of features, components, or subsystems based on level
Requirements
Bachelor’s + 9 yrs OR Master’s + 7 yrs OR HS + 13 yrs OR PhD or Juris Doctorate + 4 yrs
Technical Skills
-Experience with C++ and/or Java development in Linux environments
-Familiarity with Agile/Scrum processes
-Ability to troubleshoot complex software issues
-System ownership, troubleshooting complexity, and collaboration/leadership expectations will vary and increase based on level.
Clearance Requirements
-Must have a current or active a DoD Secret clearance
-Ability to obtain a DoD Information Assurance Technician (IAT) Level II certification or higher (e.g., Security+ CE, CCNA Security, CySA+) within 3 months of hire if not currently held. -Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, Data Science, or related
-Experience developing or integrating Navy training systems or simulations
-Familiarity with ActiveMQ, JAWS, GUI development
-Experience with Jira, GitLab, CI/CD pipelines, virtualization, or container tools
-Experience in Navy training environments or other mission-critical systems
-IAT Level II certification or higher (e.g., Security+ CE, CCNA Security, CySA+)
Benefits & conditions
$60-$66/hr
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
