Job description

The 2026 Weld Manufacturing Engineering Development Program gives recent engineering graduates three experiences over a two year period. The eight-month rotations include assignments in Weld OFP Manufacturing Engineering, Fabrication OFP Manufacturing Engineering, Tooling Engineering and Fabrication or Weld PDP- all possible at John Deere locations in the Midwest. Requirements

  • Currently pursuing or recent college graduate with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Welding Engineering or related Engineering degree with an anticipated graduation date of December 2025 through August 2026

  • Desired cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale. Minimum cumulative GPA required of 2.8 on a 4.0 scale Candidates must be willing to relocate to Dubuque, Iowa Work Statement: US Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

What Skills You Need

  • Previous intern or co-op experience in weld engineering

  • Experience with problem solving and working in a team environment.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Familiar with Microsoft Office products.

Ideally, a strong candidate will also possess:

  • Experience with Pro/E, Solid Works, or AutoCAD.

  • Experience with tooling design.

  • Working knowledge of robotics and design for automation.

  • Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).

  • Experience with SAP.

  • Experience with line design, material presentation, cycle balancing

Salary based on published rates based on business function and education level is $81,000-$83,000.

The John Deere Dubuque Works is one of the key facilities in Deere & Company’s Construction and Forestry (C&F) Division. The Dubuque Works manufactures backhoe loaders, crawler dozers, and skid steer loaders for the construction industry and knuckleboom loaders and tracked feller bunchers for the forestry industry. The Dubuque Works also serves as the Center of Excellence for the C&F Division in the areas of Product Engineering, Product Verification and Validation, Supply Management, and Product Support which includes the Dealer Technical Assistance Center. From a manufacturing perspective, the core competencies of the factory include plate and sheet cutting, machining, welding, paint, and assembly.
