As such, you will lead and support programming leaders, programmers, and technical experts across multiple internal co-development mandates. You will work with disciplines such as systems programming, gameplay programming, UI programming, technical art, technical level design, and technical animation.

You will play a key role in creating the conditions for teams to do their best work by strengthening co-development alignment, improving collaboration, and ensuring technical groups have the clarity, support, and structure they need to succeed.

You will be responsible for coordinating effort of the technical WB Games Montreal (WBGM) groups and employees across projects, identify and remove risks, support onboarding, establish effective collaboration practices, and enable teams to deliver against milestones in a complex AAA production environment.

This is a people leadership and co-development enablement role. While you will partner closely with technical and production leadership, the focus of the position is not to own the technical vision or production priorities, but to lead technical experts, support team health, and drive consistent execution across studios.

Your impact will be reflected in strong team alignment, effective partner collaboration, talent growth, clear operating rhythms, and reliable milestone delivery at the expected quality level., * Lead, support, and develop WBGM co-development technical teams, including programming leaders, engineers, and senior technical experts across multiple mandates.

  • Partner with WBGM studio leadership and external stakeholders on recruitment planning, team structure, staffing strategy, and project ramp-up.
  • Establish clear operating rhythms, collaboration practices, and escalation paths across internal, remote, and external partner teams.
  • Identify and resolve roadblocks across project mandates, technical disciplines, and studio cultures.
  • Lead technical staff onboarding at WBGM and facilitate project onboarding with external partners to accelerate team integration.
  • Monitor team performance, productivity, engagement, and delivery health, escalating risks when appropriate.
  • Coach, mentor, motivate, and support technical employees through performance reviews, career development, and objective setting.

What This Role Is Not

  • Not a Technical Director role focused on owning the technical vision.
  • Not a hands-on technical role focused on directly implementing game features.
  • Not a traditional project-dedicated lead role focused on feature ownership.
  • Not a producer’s role focused on planning or project priorities.

Requirements

  • University degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 10+ years of relevant game development experience, including leadership responsibilities across the full development cycle from concept to release.
  • Experience shipping at least two AAA titles in a leadership capacity.
  • A track record of managing multiple teams, mandates, or partner relationships across internal, remote, and external studio environments.
  • The ability to understand technical constraints, trade-offs, and delivery risks, and to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong leadership, team building, stakeholder management, and cross-cultural collaboration skills.
  • Familiarity with Unreal Engine pipelines is an asset.
  • Fluency in English is required; French/English bilingualism is highly desirable.
