Job description
The Marketing Services (MS) Technology team is looking for a Senior Software Development Engineer to provide technical ownership, with an emphasis on engineering efficiency, innovation, and on-time delivery.
The ideal candidate is passionate about building highly scalable, cloud-native platforms using modern software engineering and data technologies. You will have the opportunity to work across technologies including Java, Spring Boot, React, GraphQL, Databricks, AWS, Spark, Hadoop, event-driven architectures, and real-time data platforms. Our teams leverage GenAI and Agentic AI capabilities throughout the product development lifecycle to accelerate delivery, improve quality, enhance automation, and increase engineering productivity. This role offers an opportunity to help shape Mastercard’s ongoing cloud transformation journey while transforming the way we automate, optimise, and innovate the digital marketing lifecycle.
Role:
In this role, you will:
- Design & Develop REST APIs and web services using Java, Spring Boot, and modern cloud-native technologies.
- Be responsible for assessing technologies and approaches for integrating backend data services with user interfaces.
- Work closely with team members from across Mastercard to identify functional and system requirements.
- Build scalable, resilient, and high-performing platform capabilities supporting global marketing solutions.
- Contribute to engineering excellence through automation, testing, observability, and AI-assisted development practices.
- Leverage GenAI-powered tools and workflows to improve software quality, delivery velocity, and developer productivity., All activities involving access to Mastercard assets, information, and networks comes with an inherent risk to the organization and, therefore, it is expected that every person working for, or on behalf of, Mastercard is responsible for information security and must:

Requirements
- Have hands-on knowledge of Java, Spring Boot, and distributed service architectures (REST APIs).
- Be familiar with modern web development technologies including React and/or Angular, NodeJS, GraphQL, etc.
- Have an understanding of Domain Driven Design (DDD) and Event Driven Design (EDD).
- Build automated quality frameworks based on JUnit and Mockito and have a solid understanding of BDD testing frameworks.
- Have exposure to cloud-native technologies and services on AWS.
- Be familiar with modern data platforms and technologies such as Databricks, Spark, Hadoop, or similar large-scale data processing frameworks.
- Have experience leveraging GenAI and AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity and software quality.
- Have excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Be familiar with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Have demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly.
- Be strong, confident, and able to communicate solutions and architecture effectively to a wide variety of stakeholders.
- Have a passion for cloud transformation, platform modernisation, and continuous improvement.
- Last but not least, have a bias for action.
Benefits & conditions
In line with Mastercard’s total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. The base salary offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Mastercard benefits for full time (and certain part time) employees generally include: insurance (including medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, disability, life insurance); flexible spending account and health savings account; paid leaves (including 16 weeks of new parent leave and up to 20 days of bereavement leave); 80 hours of Paid Sick and Safe Time, 25 days of vacation time and 5 personal days, pro-rated based on date of hire; 10 annual paid U.S. observed holidays; 401k with a best-in-class company match; deferred compensation for eligible roles; fitness reimbursement or on-site fitness facilities; eligibility for tuition reimbursement; and many more. Mastercard benefits for interns generally include: 56 hours of Paid Sick and Safe Time; jury duty leave; and on-site fitness facilities in some locations.
Pay Ranges Atlanta, Georgia: $115,000 - $184,000 USD
