Job description
Insight Global is seeking a RHEL Engineer to support a critical program with the state of CA. This role will support the administration, optimization, maintenance, security, and automation of Red Hat Enterprise Linux virtual server infrastructure hosted in Microsoft Azure Cloud. The administrator will work as part of a systems administration team supporting critical application infrastructure and will be responsible for RHEL system monitoring, patching, log analysis, backup validation, vulnerability remediation, kernel upgrades, identity and access updates, performance tuning, configuration management, and Azure cloud optimization.
This person will also help mature and standardize the client’s Linux infrastructure by developing automation scripts and Infrastructure as Code workflows using tools such as Ansible, Terraform, and Azure-native services. The role will focus on creating repeatable provisioning processes, automating patching and lifecycle management, improving system hardening and compliance, reducing manual administration, and supporting long-term stability, scalability, security, and maintainability across complex Linux-based environments.

Requirements
5+ years of experience supporting complex technology implementations in a product-centric environment.
Bachelor’s degree in an IT-related or engineering field, or equivalent additional qualifying experience substituted year-for-year in place of the degree.
Strong hands-on experience administering, maintaining, securing, and optimizing Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems.
Experience supporting enterprise infrastructure environments, including installation, configuration, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and performance support.
Experience with Linux system monitoring, patching, log analysis, backup validation, vulnerability remediation, kernel upgrades, and system tuning.
Experience supporting virtual server infrastructure in a cloud environment, preferably Microsoft Azure.
Experience with infrastructure automation, configuration management, patching, and system lifecycle management in complex Linux environments. 3+ years of advanced experience implementing and supporting at least four of the following: RHEL administration, RHEL security, CIS Benchmarks, OpenSCAP, Azure Cloud Administration, containerization, Red Hat Identity Manager, and Linux performance analysis and tuning.
5+ years of progressively complex experience with analysis, architecture, design, installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of information systems hardware and software.
3+ years of hands-on advanced experience using Ansible and Terraform to design, deploy, and manage Infrastructure as Code in complex Linux-based environments.
Experience developing modular, reusable automation for infrastructure provisioning, configuration consistency, lifecycle management, and secure scalable infrastructure workflows.
Experience with Azure VM sizing, storage performance tuning, network configuration, OS security baselines, identity integration, monitoring, and policy enforcement.
Experience with automated RHEL image creation, OS hardening, vulnerability remediation, patch orchestration, validation processes, reporting, and rollback planning.
Experience integrating Infrastructure as Code practices with CI/CD pipelines, version control, and standardized change or release management processes.
Experience supporting RHEL workloads in Microsoft Azure Government Cloud or public sector cloud environments.
Experience with containerization technologies and enterprise Linux identity management tools such as Red Hat Identity Manager, IdM, or FreeIPA.
