Job description

Yahoo Mail is building Data Products - externalizing our high-signal behavioral and engagement data as partner-ready APIs and data feeds. We are seeking a Partner Success Engineer to serve as the Directly Responsible Individual (DRI) for driving flawless, end-to-end partner integrations. This is not a transactional support role; it is an ownership position sitting at the intersection of engineering, data, and partnerships. You will ensure every API contract is met, every SLA is honored, and every enterprise partner maximizes value from Yahoo Mail’s data platform. You will build the external face of our data platform from the ground up, collaborating within a high-velocity micro-squad that operates with startup-level autonomy inside one of the world’s most data-rich consumer platforms., You are a seasoned engineering professional who thrives at the intersection of complex distributed systems and partner relationships. You bring a strong ownership mindset - you do not wait for tickets to be assigned; you proactively identify system bottlenecks, mitigate risks, and build solutions. With extensive experience in high-scale API architecture, streaming data pipelines, and modern developer workflows (including AI-assisted debugging and pipeline optimizations), you possess the technical depth to debug complex integrations under pressure and the communication skills to interface effectively with both enterprise engineering teams and executive stakeholders., * Serve as the single point of contact and DRI for technical partner success, from initial sandbox onboarding and go-live to production optimization.

  • Maintain API reliability, performance, latency, uptime, and strict SLA compliance across all external data feeds and integrations.
  • Establish proactive monitoring, logging, and automated alerting for data product health to resolve integration issues before they impact partners.
  • Translate complex partner requirements and integration edge cases into actionable technical specifications and internal roadmap items.
  • Partner with core engineering teams to harden APIs, optimize streaming pipelines, and refine data contracts based on production feedback.
  • Maintain developer documentation, integration playbooks, architecture diagrams, and escalation paths.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience, with a focus on partner engineering, solutions architecture, or external API integration.
  • Deep technical expertise with REST/gRPC APIs, HTTP protocols, rate limiting, authentication frameworks (OAuth 2.0, API keys), and formal data contracts.
  • Proven experience working directly with enterprise partners as the primary technical point of contact for complex integrations.
  • Strong background in distributed systems, high-throughput event streaming (e.g., Kafka, Pub/Sub), and large-scale data delivery architectures.
  • Demonstrated ability to debug complex, asynchronous systems under high pressure while communicating clear status updates to non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior background in data monetization, adtech, or high-scale consumer internet platforms.
  • Hands-on experience leveraging AI/LLM developer tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) to accelerate pipeline debugging, synthetic data generation, or integration automation.
  • Experience defining, negotiating, and operationalizing enterprise-grade SLAs and data governance policies.

The material job duties and responsibilities of this role include those listed above as well as adhering to Yahoo policies ; exercising sound judgment ; working effectively, safely and inclusively with others ; exhibiting trustworthiness and meeting expectations ; and safeguarding business operations and brand integrity.
