Job description
- Design, develop and maintain high-performance software applications using C++ in Linux environments.
- Produce clean, efficient and maintainable code with a focus on performance, scalability and reliability.
- Use debugging, profiling and static analysis tools to ensure high-quality software and maximise code coverage.
- Investigate and resolve software defects, including issues relating to third-party libraries and dependencies.
- Containerise applications using Docker to support efficient deployment.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and deliver effective technical solutions.
- Participate in code reviews, testing and continuous improvement initiatives to maintain high engineering standards.
- Use modern version control and collaboration tools to support efficient software delivery.
- Maintain awareness of evolving technologies and security best practices.
- Occasional travel to customer or company sites may be required.

- C++, We are hiring a Software Developer (C++) to join our highly skilled engineering team in Cheltenham, working on secure, high-performance software solutions within a mission-critical environment. This is an excellent opportunity to work on technically challenging projects using modern development practices and cutting-edge technologies within a collaborative Agile team. We offer a salary of £43,000 to £60,000 and the chance to contribute to continuous improvement in our engineering standards and delivery processes. Enhanced Developed Vetting (DV) Clearance is essential.
Requirements
- Applicants must hold Enhanced Developed Vetting (DV) Clearance.
- A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent commercial experience.
- At least 18 months of commercial experience developing software in C++.
- Strong experience working in Linux-based development environments.
- Experience debugging software and using tools such as Valgrind or similar.
- An understanding of networking concepts, protocols and packet analysis.
- Knowledge of web technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Bootstrap.
- Experience using Docker for containerisation.
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins.
- Experience using Git and modern source control workflows.
- Strong problem-solving skills with an analytical approach.
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Passion for producing high-quality, secure and maintainable software.
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
