Job description

Overview Join Chambers and Partners as a Senior DevOps Engineer and play a key role in evolving our Azure cloud platform and driving engineering excellence across the organisation. We’re seeking a highly skilled DevOps professional with deep expertise in Microsoft Azure, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and cloud automation to design, build and optimise secure, scalable and resilient cloud solutions. Working at the heart of our technology function, you’ll help shape our cloud strategy, champion platform best practices, and empower software and data engineering teams to deliver innovative products faster, more reliably and at scale. This is a hybrid role, with two days a week expected in the London office. Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Strict IaC Management: Define, version, and manage multi-cloud GPU and CPU infrastructure strictly through modular, reusable Terraform.
  • GitOps & GitFlow: Enforce rigorous GitFlow branching strategies, code reviews, and automated deployment practices for all infrastructure changes.
  • Azure DevOps Pipelines: Design, build, and maintain secure, high-speed CI/CD pipelines within Azure DevOps to automate code promotion and MLOps workflows.
  • Incident Management: Lead the response, containment, and resolution of critical platform outages, serving as a primary escalation point for high-priority cloud and infrastructure incidents.
  • Proactive Problem Solving: Diagnose complex, low-latency platform bottlenecks, performance regressions, and cloud-to-cloud networking issues, implementing permanent structural fixes to prevent recurrence.
  • Third-Party Operational Coordination: Act as the direct engineering point of contact for external support teams, actively collaborating on active incident tickets, complex escalations, and day-to-day infrastructure maintenance.
  • Cross-Functional Communication: Document complex technical architectures clearly and articulate system requirements, post-mortems, and engineering strategies effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • AI/ML Platform Automation: Architect and maintain highly available MLOps platforms across AWS and Azure environments.
  • Developer Enablement: Build self-service infrastructure tools, deployment templates, and continuous training/inference pipelines to eliminate friction.

Why you should apply

We offer an encouraging and collaborative environment, forward-thinking team that views every technical roadblock not as a headache, but as an exciting puzzle to solve. If you love pushing the boundaries of automation and want to turn your intellectual curiosity into production-level reality, this is the place for you.

Requirements

  • Platform Experience: Demonstrable DevOps experience, with a proven focus on building software engineering platforms or AI/ML infrastructure.
  • IaC Mastery: The successful candidate must demonstrate advanced proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC), with a track record of building and maintaining complex cloud environments through automated, version-controlled infrastructure. Deep expertise in Terraform and cloud-native provisioning frameworks is essential, along with experience implementing CI/CD-driven infrastructure deployment pipelines.
  • Tooling Expertise: Production-level experience managing GitFlow workflows and native CI/CD execution inside Azure DevOps.
  • Cloud Mastery: Proven, production-level expertise managing enterprise-grade infrastructure on both AWS and Azure environments. The ideal candidate will possess deep hands-on expertise in designing, deploying, securing, and managing cloud-native and hybrid solutions using Azure services, while driving automation, scalability, reliability, and operational excellence.
  • Problem Solving & Incident Response: Exceptional analytical skills with a track record of troubleshooting complex distributed systems and managing high-pressure production incidents.
  • Third-Party Operational Collaboration: Hands-on experience working directly alongside external engineering providers, co-operating on joint troubleshooting sessions and complex infrastructure handoffs.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to write clear documentation and collaborate across engineering teams.
  • Ecosystem Knowledge: Hands-on experience supporting software delivery and MLOps tooling (e.g., Kubernetes, Kubeflow, MLflow, Triton, Docker, or SageMaker/Azure ML)
