Job description

  1. In the “Education Section:” attach a current or recent unofficial or official transcript in English. Under “Degree Status,” select “Now attending” to upload a transcript., As a key member of a versatile team, you will work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs. We need our engineers to be versatile, and enthusiastic in addressing problems as we continue to push technology forward. You will design, test, deploy and maintain software solutions as you grow and evolve during your internship., Our engineers create, fix, extend and scale the code to keep it working and to harden it against all the bad actors of the internet. We drive reliability and performance on a massive scale. You will work on software development projects to keep important business generating-critical systems up and running, from code-level troubleshooting of traffic anomalies to maintenance of our services; from monitoring and alerts to building automation infrastructure., * Research, conceive and develop software applications to extend and improve on Google’s product offering.
  • Contribute to a wide variety of projects using natural language processing, artificial intelligence, data compression, machine learning, and search technologies.
  • Collaborate on scalability issues involing access to data and information.
  • Utilise exposure to large-scale production software troubleshooting.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a PhD degree in Computer Science or a related technical field in the EMEA region, and in your penultimate/final year of education.
  • Experience working with data structures or algorithms during coursework/projects, research, internships, or practical experience in school or work (e.g., open-source coding).
  • Experience with one or more general purpose programming languages (e.g., Java, C/C++, Python, JavaScript, Go, etc.)., * Relevant practical or internship experience (e.g., research assistant, teaching assistant, personal projects, etc) with programming in either: C++, Java, Python, or Go.
  • Research experience in algorithms, architecture, artificial intelligence, compilers, database, data mining, distributed systems, machine learning, networking, or systems.
  • Relevant practical or internship experience with one or more of the following: web application development, Unix/Linux, mobile application development, distributed and parallel systems, machine learning, information retrieval, NLP, networking, developing large software systems, or security software development.
  • Ability to complete a 13-17 week full-time internship in Switzerland or Germany starting in either May, June or July 2027., Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
