Job description
STAFFXPERT LLC is seeking a Middleware / Integration Engineer API & Cloud Integration on behalf of our client in Salt Lake City, Utah. This role is ideal for a highly skilled integration professional with expertise in API development, middleware technologies, event-driven architecture, and cloud-native solutions. The successful candidate will design, develop, and support scalable integration services that connect enterprise applications, platforms, and data systems while driving modernization initiatives and engineering best practices. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain enterprise integration services, APIs, and middleware solutions.
- Build secure and scalable RESTful APIs using modern integration and software engineering principles.
- Implement and support API security standards, including authentication, authorization, and secure service-to-service communication.
- Design and develop event-driven integrations utilizing Apache Kafka and messaging technologies.
- Develop and deploy containerized applications and integration services using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support automated testing, deployment, and release management.
- Integrate enterprise applications using REST, JSON, SOAP, XML, and related technologies.
- Troubleshoot complex production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement performance improvements.
- Collaborate with application, cloud, security, infrastructure, and architecture teams to deliver integrated business solutions.
- Contribute to reusable integration frameworks, technical standards, and automation initiatives.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and engineering practices to improve solution quality, scalability, and development efficiency.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Strong experience developing and supporting enterprise integration solutions using Python.
- Hands-on experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and working with JSON-based integrations.
- Deep understanding of API security concepts, including OAuth 2.0, JWT, authentication, authorization, and secure communication patterns.
- Experience with Apache Kafka and event-driven architectures.
- Experience developing and deploying applications in containerized environments using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps methodologies, source control, and automated testing practices.
- Experience working within Agile development environments.
- Proven troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills in complex enterprise systems.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with enterprise API management platforms such as Apigee Edge or Apigee Hybrid.
- Experience with IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE) or similar middleware platforms.
- Knowledge of SOAP, XML, XSD, and WSDL technologies.
- Experience working with modern data integration platforms, including Databricks.
- Familiarity with Data as a Service (DaaS) architectures and integration patterns.
- Experience with API governance, lifecycle management, and enterprise integration standards.
- Knowledge of automated testing methodologies, including Behavior-Driven Development (BDD).
- Experience with monitoring, observability, and performance optimization for distributed applications.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted software development tools and modern engineering productivity solutions.
