Software Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join a team building software for connected Linux-based devices in Thorofare, New Jersey. In this role, you will shape backend and platform capabilities, create reliable services for edge environments, and help deliver software that interacts closely with hardware, device interfaces, and cloud-connected systems. This position is ideal for an engineer who brings strong architectural judgment, hands-on development expertise, and a commitment to building maintainable, production-ready solutions., Create and enhance software services and platform components for embedded Linux systems using Python, Bash, and other suitable programming languages. Define technical approaches for new features by balancing system performance, reliability, security, ease of maintenance, and long-term support needs. Build and support APIs that enable communication across device services, user interface elements, diagnostic utilities, and cloud-integrated applications. Collaborate across software, firmware, and hardware boundaries to connect applications with networking layers, device drivers, sensors, and management interfaces. Develop processes and tooling for software updates, device setup, provisioning, commissioning, configuration, and remote lifecycle management. Strengthen observability by implementing logging, telemetry, and diagnostic capabilities that assist quality, manufacturing, and field support teams. Contribute to containerized deployments and release workflows for Linux edge platforms, including packaging, automation, testing, and distribution activities. Investigate production and field issues, troubleshoot interactions among device software, connectivity layers, cloud services, and hardware behavior, and drive reliable resolutions. Participate in code reviews, produce clear technical documentation, and guide less experienced engineers through mentoring and technical collaboration.

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, electrical engineering, or a closely related technical field; comparable practical experience may also be considered. At least 8 years of software engineering experience with meaningful ownership of production-grade applications or platforms. Minimum 3 years of experience operating at a senior level with responsibilities that include technical direction, design input, mentoring, and partnership across teams. Strong background in Linux-based development, with at least 5 years of experience in embedded Linux, edge computing, IoT, device management, or similar environments. Demonstrated experience delivering software for physical devices, deployed products, or operational systems outside of traditional desktop or web-only environments. Proficiency in modern software development practices such as automated testing, code review, secure coding, release management, and technical documentation. Ability to work effectively with multiple technologies, including backend and platform development tools as well as related frameworks such as C#, .NET, JavaScript, React.js, and ASP.NET where applicable., All applicants applying for U.S. job openings must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
