Role Description:As a Software Engineer, you are responsible for the development, performance, and scaling of our services as well as internal systems. You will work independently and will also be responsible for making technical decisions within a team. Key Job Responsibilities and Duties:Rapidly developing next-generation scalable, flexible, and

high-performance systemsSelf-starters with a collaborative, “can-do” attitudeSolving issues with the systems, prioritizing based on customer impactAdvocating development best practices within the teamBe owner for teams’ micro-services and servicesActing as an intermediary for problems, with both technical and non-technical audiencesUnderstanding the regulatory processes and how to best support our customers, partners and compliance officers. Providing compliance officers/analysts with enhanced tooling experience, analytics and reporting.Contributing to the growth of Booking.com through interviewing, on-boarding, or other recruitment effortsQualifications & Skills:Minimum of 2 years of software development experience; using 2 or more server-side programming languages. Experience with Java is a mustExperience with micro-services is a mustExperience with building highly scalable distributed systems and batch processing pipelines with a focus on data integrityExperience with multiple data storage technologies (MySQL, Hadoop, Cassandra)Experience with AWS (DynamoDB, RDS, Step functions, EC2, Kinesis) is a plus.Experience with unit, integration, and end-to-end testing paradigmsExperience with defining and upholding SLOs/KPIs and participating in architecture reviews for systemsExperience with Regulation, compliance policies is a plusPast experience with payments or FinTech is a plusExperience with security challenges for authentication and authorizationExperience of working on products that impact a large customer base and have a company-wide impact.Experience in working with teams, colleagues spread across geographical locations is a plus.Benefits & Perks - Global Impact, Personal Relevance:Booking.com’s Total Rewards Philosophy is not only about compensation but also about benefits.
