Developer

The successful candidate will play an active role in developing and maintaining robust, scalable backend systems, building APIs and services using Django and Django REST Framework. You will work collaboratively with other developers while having the opportunity to take ownership of defined development tasks and continue to grow your technical expertise.

• Design, build and maintain backend services and APIs using Django and Django REST Framework (DRF)
• Develop efficient and well-structured PostgreSQL queries
• Manage database schema changes, including migrations, indexing and performance tuning
• Build and maintain RESTful APIs
• Participate in code reviews and follow established security and quality standards
• Collaborate with frontend developers to integrate APIs and ensure smooth data flow
• Debug and resolve issues across the technology stack
• Investigate performance bottlenecks and data integrity issues
• Contribute to technical documentation and internal process improvements
• Work within CI/CD pipelines and Git-based version control workflows
• Write maintainable, testable code and contribute to unit testing
• Work within appropriate security, quality and data protection standards

The successful Mid-Level Django Developer will ideally have:

• 3+ years’ professional experience with Django or a similar Python web framework
• Strong working knowledge of PostgreSQL, including query optimisation, indexing and schema design
• Hands-on experience with Django REST Framework (DRF)
• Experience building and working with RESTful APIs
• Experience with Git-based version control and collaborative development
• Familiarity with unit testing and writing maintainable, testable code
• Understanding of basic web application security best practices
• Experience working within Linux-based development or deployment environments

The following would be advantageous:

• Docker and containerised deployments
• AWS services, particularly RDS, EC2 and WAF
• Infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or Ansible
• Frontend frameworks or JavaScript-heavy features
• CI/CD tooling such as Bitbucket Pipelines or GitHub Actions
• Experience working with JSON-based data structures, rule engines or configurable logic

We’re looking for a developer who is comfortable working independently on defined tasks and is keen to continue developing their technical ownership.

You’ll need to be a strong team player, comfortable contributing to technical discussions, collaborating with other developers and taking responsibility for delivering high-quality, maintainable solutions.
