GCP Data Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Senior GCP Data Engineer to lead large-scale cloud data modernization, migration, and analytics initiatives on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This is a senior, client-facing role requiring strong hands-on expertise in Google BigQuery, DBT Migration, Cloud Composer/Apache Airflow, Python, Advanced SQL, and enterprise Data Migration. The candidate will serve as a technical anchor, partnering with business stakeholders, architects, QA teams, and distributed delivery teams to successfully execute complex data engineering and analytics initiatives. Key Responsibilities Lead end-to-end design and delivery of GCP-based data engineering and migration solutions. Design, develop, and optimize scalable data pipelines using Cloud Composer / Apache Airflow and Python. Build and manage enterprise data warehouse and analytics solutions using Google BigQuery. Lead and support DBT migration and data transformation initiatives. Perform complex SQL troubleshooting, query optimization, and data validation across large datasets. Drive data migration initiatives from legacy platforms to GCP. Ensure data integrity, quality, security, and regulatory compliance. Analyze data to identify quality issues, transformation requirements, and optimization opportunities. Collaborate with business users, data architects, QA teams, and other stakeholders. Review code and enforce data engineering best practices. Provide technical leadership to development teams. Support production deployments, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and operational excellence. Required Skills 10+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Analytics, Data Warehousing, and Cloud Data Platforms. Strong hands-on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) experience. Strong hands-on experience with Google BigQuery. Strong hands-on experience with DBT Migration. Strong experience with Cloud Composer / Apache Airflow. Strong hands-on Python development experience. Advanced SQL development, debugging, and performance tuning expertise. Experience with large-scale Data Migration and Data Modernization programs. Strong understanding of data modeling, ETL/ELT frameworks, and data warehousing concepts. Experience working with structured and semi-structured datasets. Knowledge of GCP services including Cloud Storage, Dataflow, Dataproc, IAM, Monitoring, and Logging. Experience with CI/CD pipelines and cloud DevOps practices. Understanding of Agile delivery methodologies. Preferred Qualifications Experience in Banking, Financial Services, or Wealth Management. Exposure to Data Quality, Data Governance, and Metadata Management. Knowledge of QA processes, test-case creation, defect management, and data validation. GCP Professional Data Engineer Certification preferred. Experience migrating from Teradata, Hadoop, Oracle, SQL Server, or similar legacy platforms to GCP. Soft Skills Excellent client-facing communication skills. Strong stakeholder-management capabilities. Ability to work effectively with distributed teams. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
