Job description

Google’s software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. Our products need to handle information at massive scale, and extend well beyond web search. We’re looking for engineers who bring fresh ideas from all areas, including information retrieval, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking and data storage, security, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, UI design and mobile; the list goes on and is growing every day. As a software engineer, you will work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve. We need our engineers to be versatile, display leadership qualities and be enthusiastic to take on new problems across the full-stack as we continue to push technology forward.

The mission of the Launch team is to advocate for and build the most velocity-positive launch and governance experience for Google development teams, making it easier for launchers to create, maintain, and launch features with low friction, confidence, and compliance through agentic assistance. By delivering automated SDLC workflows and deploying intelligent, AI-driven solutions, the team systematically reduces developer toil, eliminates human handoff delays, and compresses end-to-end feature delivery timelines while proactively strengthening Google’s safety, security, and policy compliance posture at scale.

The Core team builds the technical foundation behind Google’s flagship products. We are owners and advocates for the underlying design elements, developer platforms, product components, and infrastructure at Google. These are the essential building blocks for excellent, safe, and coherent experiences for our users and drive the pace of innovation for every developer. We look across Google’s products to build central solutions, break down technical barriers and strengthen existing systems. As the Core team, we have a mandate and a unique opportunity to impact important technical decisions across the company.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $147000 - $210000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits, * Design, implement, and refine AI agents and their underlying “skills” to automate complex user workflows. Utilize existing infra for agent deployments.

  • Build and maintain automated evaluation frameworks to measure agent performance, accuracy, and safety across different datasets. Rapidly ramp up on existing products, identifying integration points for AI services without disrupting current production stability.
  • Own the full lifecycle of complex features, from initial design documentation and planning to deployment and post-launch maintenance. Prioritize observability and predictability by implementing comprehensive logging, monitoring, and alerting frameworks.
  • Drive high standards for code reviews, testing coverage, and technical documentation to improve overall codebase stability.
  • Help identify system gaps, technical debt, and performance bottlenecks, providing data-driven recommendations and executing improvements.

Requirements

Experience driving progress, solving problems, and mentoring more junior team members; deeper expertise and applied knowledge within relevant area., * Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

  • 2 years of experience in software development with Python, Java, or Kotlin.
  • Experience with building AI/ML platforms for cloud customers., * Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
  • Experience with web applications.
  • Proficiency in building highly-scalable backend services that interact with complex data models.
  • Understanding of Generative AI, LLMs, Agentic workflows, and emerging standards like Model Context Protocol (MCP).
  • Familiarity with command-line interfaces, text processing, and developing web applications.
