Job description
We are looking for an experienced Health IT professional to lead and support laboratory information systems (LIS) initiatives using Oracle Cerner Millennium (especially PathNet). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in healthcare IT, particularly within laboratory workflows and electronic health records (EHR) integrations., Analyze and document lab operations workflows for clinical, anatomical, and specialty laboratory functions.
- Lead the process design for Oracle Cerner Millennium/PathNet lab modules, collaborating with lab and IT stakeholders to ensure best practices.
- Facilitate workshops, gather requirements, and document key decisions for technology enhancements and change management.
- Oversee and execute test plans, validate system upgrades, and coordinate with stakeholders to resolve issues during implementation and rollout.
- Assist in LIS/EHR data migration activities, including workflow reviews, pre-launch assessments, and integrated testing.
- Troubleshoot HL7 or other interface issues affecting lab result transmission and partner with integration specialists to resolve problems.
- Contribute to user training, adoption strategies, and the creation of support materials for end-users.
- Support regulatory compliance by preparing for audits, reviewing standard operating procedures, and assisting with corrective actions.
- Provide administrative and project coordination support, including status reporting, meeting facilitation, and risk/issue management.
Requirements
Minimum 3 years’ experience in healthcare technology, clinical operations, or IT analysis, with substantial involvement in lab environment settings.
- Proven, hands-on familiarity with Oracle Cerner Millennium-preferably with expertise in PathNet or lab module workflows.
- Participation in EHR/LIS deployment projects, including system build, migration, user acceptance testing, activation (go-live), and post-launch stabilization.
- Understanding of data exchange protocols, such as HL7 messaging, and the ability to troubleshoot interface/integration challenges related to lab result delivery.
- Effective communication and organizational skills; demonstrated ability to coordinate between lab professionals, clinicians, IT teams, and project stakeholders.
- Competence in creating project artifacts, including process diagrams, analytical reports, test documentation, decision records, and status updates.
- Experience supporting project management tasks, such as tracking actions/issues and preparing project summaries.
Desirable Experience:
- Background supporting digital transformation or modernization initiatives in complex organizations (e.g., government or large enterprises).
- Knowledge of external lab interfacing and working with third-party lab providers (e.g., LabCorp or Quest Diagnostics).
- Exposure to Cerner PowerChart modules relevant to clinical care documentation and process automation.
- Certifications in Oracle Cerner/Millennium systems, project management (e.g., PMP), or Agile methodologies.
- Experience with laboratory accreditation, audits, and compliance standards (e.g., CAP, CLIA).
- Awareness of healthcare data privacy and security regulations (e.g., HIPAA)., Bachelor’s degree in a technical, scientific, or healthcare-related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Prior system build/configuration experience with Oracle Cerner/Oracle Health solutions is essential.
- U.S. security clearance (active or eligible) is highly preferred.
