Job description

  • Lead the design and implementation of enterprise solution architectures that support mission-critical applications and services
  • Translate business, functional, and technical requirements into scalable solution designs
  • Design highly available, fault-tolerant, and disaster-resilient architectures using data center and cloud best practices
  • Evaluate existing infrastructure and recommend modernization strategies
  • Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform
  • Architect data center and cloud containerized solutions utilizing VMware VKS, RedHat OpenShift, Amazon ECS, Amazon EKS, AWS Lambda, and related AWS services
  • Design and support GitLab DevSecOps pipelines and CI/CD tools
  • Optimize proposed technology solutions for performance, scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency
  • Lead architecture reviews, technical assessments, and design validation activities
  • Develop technical documentation including architecture diagrams, interface specifications, design documents, and implementation plans
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to engineers, developers, and infrastructure teams
  • Support Authority to Operate (ATO) efforts, continuous monitoring, and security assessments
  • Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to estimate technical effort, identify risks, and develop implementation strategies

Requirements

  • Degree in Computer Science/Information Management Systems, or equivalent level technical experience
  • 5+ years performing Solutions Architecture activities
  • 5+ years developing business, application, and technology architecture
  • Demonstrated expertise in data center technologies as well as cloud solutioning

Cloud Operations:

  • AWS and Azure experience in multiple accounts/subscriptions environment
  • Experience provisioning and managing cloud services (e.g. compute, storage, networking, security, databases) in an enterprise environment
  • Cloud networking (e.g. VPC, firewall, security groups, VPN, hybrid cloud Direct Connect/Express Route)
  • Cloud resource management automation

DevSecOps:

  • Demonstrated experience developing with modern application programming frameworks
  • Demonstrated experience containerizing applications
  • Demonstrated experience managing GitLab pipelines
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and best practices
  • Experience writing Terraform HCL infrastructure code
  • Git Version Control in DevOps: Git best practices, branching, tagging, release management, etc.

Containers/Kubernetes:

  • Demonstrated experience deploying to AWS and Azure Kubernetes environments
  • Demonstrated experience with datacenter Kubernetes platforms such as VMware VKS and RedHat OpenShift
  • Demonstrated experience developing Dockerfiles and Helm charts
  • 5+ years system engineering/administration with Linux and Windows systems
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor engineering teams and influence technical decision-making
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with elected officials, senior staff, information systems professionals, and non-technical users
