Network Systems Engineer

Apex Systems is currently hiring a Systems Engineer MID - LAN/WAN/WLAN with a large federal client. As a Systems Engineer, you will support enterprise network modernization efforts by engineering, maintaining, and troubleshooting mission-critical LAN, WAN, and WLAN environments across a geographically dispersed Department of Defense network infrastructure.

Project Details / Mission Supported:

• Provide Tier III support for complex enterprise network issues and operational incidents.
• Configure, maintain, and support switches, routers, firewalls, VLANs, and wireless infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot routing, switching, SD-WAN, VPN, MPLS, and network boundary technologies.
• Support network engineering, change management, and configuration management activities.
• Perform root cause analysis and recommend corrective actions to improve network stability and performance.
• Participate in network architecture, design, and modernization initiatives.
• Support lab validation, testing, and deployment of enterprise network solutions.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure operational readiness and mission success.

• Experience supporting enterprise LAN/WAN/WLAN and network boundary environments.
• Strong hands-on expertise with routing and switching technologies.
• Experience supporting SD-WAN, MPLS, VPNs, OSPF, BGP, and EIGRP.
• Experience providing Tier III support in complex enterprise environments.
• DoD 8570 IAT Level III certification required (CASP+, CISSP, CCNP Security, or equivalent).
• Experience with Agile/SAFe methodologies and JIRA.
• Knowledge of network architecture, change management, and configuration management processes.
• Ability to support large-scale enterprise network modernization efforts., * Experience supporting Navy or other federal government environments.
• Experience with network automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
• Experience with Ansible and Python.
• Experience with Arista networking technologies.
• Cisco certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or CCIE.
