Job description
Cyber B.A.T. is seeking a Software Engineer Level 1 to develop, maintain, and enhance mission-focused software applications, with an emphasis on graphical user interfaces, dashboards, AWS cloud environments, automated workflows, and AI/ML integration. This role involves designing and testing software, integrating new functionality, troubleshooting and resolving defects, developing algorithms and database interfaces, and collaborating with cross-functional teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
What You’ll Do
- Develop, maintain, and enhance complex software systems based on documented requirements
- Design and develop user-friendly graphical user interfaces and interactive dashboards
- Design, deploy, and manage applications and infrastructure in AWS cloud environments
- Integrate new features and functionality into existing tools and systems
- Develop and maintain automated workflows to streamline processes and improve operational efficiency
- Integrate AI/ML models into existing applications and workflows to enhance functionality and decision-making
- Monitor and optimize automated workflows and AI/ML model performance
- Analyze user requirements and translate them into software design and performance requirements
- Design, code, test, debug, and modify new and existing software applications
- Develop algorithms and software solutions that meet system performance and functional requirements
- Integrate existing software into new or modified systems and operating environments
- Develop database queries and interfaces for existing and proposed data repositories
- Review and create software and system documentation
- Review and test software components for adherence to design requirements
- Develop and execute software testing procedures and document test results
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve software defects and problem reports
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the software development lifecycle
- Apply appropriate software development, design, and Agile methodologies
- Evaluate opportunities for software reuse and the integration of COTS/GOTS solutions
- Provide input on system design, requirements analysis, hardware/software trade-offs, and software architecture
- Recommend improvements to software development processes, documentation, and standards
- Work independently and collaboratively as part of a software development team
Requirements
- Active TS/SCI Clearance with a current Maryland Polygraph
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university
- Seven (7) years of experience as a Software Engineer supporting programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity
- Four (4) additional years of Software Engineering experience on projects with similar software processes may be substituted for a Bachelor’s degree
- Strong software development experience with Python, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and/or TypeScript
- Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js
- Experience developing responsive and accessible web interfaces and dashboards
- Experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, IAM, API Gateway, and DynamoDB/RDS
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation
- Experience using Python for automation and workflow development
- Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow or AWS Step Functions
- Basic experience integrating AI/ML models into software applications
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, Docker/containerization, and cloud security best practices
- Experience with Git and software testing frameworks, including unit and integration testing
- Experience analyzing system performance, data usage, system flows, and operational processes
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an Agile development environment
