Job description

The Supervisor, IT Endpoint Solutions - Central provides supervision to the technical staff supporting the University community. This employee coordinates, leads, and monitors the performance of the support staff, and modifies or devises new methods, techniques, and procedures. This position exercises considerable judgment in making decisions in unprecedent situations while staying within the limits of University policies.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the management, operation, and administration of all endpoint solutions file and application servers.
  • Analyzes and develops information technology infrastructure systems and sub-systems.
  • Ensures that an advanced level of expertise and technical support are provided to the entire University on information technology systems and services.
  • Assists campus users in assessing the technical requirements that meet the needs of their operation.
  • Approves new and established procedures for preventative and remedial maintenance of systems.
  • Coordinates and ensures that quality customer service is provided to staff, faculty, students, and vendors.
  • Assists with evaluating and recommending hardware and software upgrades and software packages.
  • Supervises the technical support staff, provides them with a clear understanding of the departmental mission, and directs them in achieving this mission.
  • Monitors the performance of the support technicians for quality assurance and to ensure that assignments are accomplished as scheduled and according to specified objectives.
  • Performs follow-up investigations on inquiries, complaints, and problems. Ensures problem resolution is within established departmental guidelines and communicates resolution to appropriate senior staff.
  • Assists in determining critical milestones and in finding the appropriate solutions.
  • Pursues ways to improve operations and oversees the creation of productivity reports.
  • Trains support staff and makes recommendations for hiring, firing, and promoting staff.
  • Establishes priorities, which meet the departmental goals and objectives, and identifies areas of improvement. Implements initiatives or an action plan to meet the prescribed goals.
  • Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures.
  • Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in relevant field required
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience required
  • Performance Management: Ability to set performance goals, provide feedback, conduct evaluations, and effectively delegate tasks.
  • Training & Development: Providing employee training and motivation to enhance skills.
  • Team Leadership: Ability to create and maintain a cohesive and productive team environment, build positive working relationships and work collaboratively with others.
  • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using office software, technology, and relevant computer applications.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey ideas clearly and persuasively.
