Job description

This position is responsible for providing engineering, sales, and technical support to our sales organization, distributors, channel partners, and end users. This includes selection and quoting of equipment from our APV and Waukesha Cherry-Burrell product lines; providing technical information about the equipment and the applications/processes which they are used in; assisting in resolution and troubleshooting of field problems; providing technical sales presentations and demonstrations of proper use of equipment., * Increase sales to existing accounts

  • Share points of view and/or suggest innovative/creative ideas for customers
  • Holding our channel partners and internal SPX FLOW teammates accountable to mutually deliver on our commitments and grow our partnership.
  • Review customer specifications to prepare sales quotations and proposals for products, including price and delivery, and other related materials for a customer’s inquiry. Involves regular communication with sales channels (via email or telephone), use of application data (printed form and PC based sizing software) for appropriate selection of equipment, and use of PC based pricing programs as well as printed price catalogs for bid proposal creation.
  • Assist with training sales representatives and customers, which includes PowerPoint presentations and occasionally instructing in hands-on type classes.
  • Attend and participate in meetings with clients, representatives, and distributors to discuss product offerings and ensure customer’s expectations are met. Occasional travel on sales calls with the distributor or Sales Manager.
  • Works with current and prospective sales representatives and customers to establish needs, specifications, and possible product modifications for future sales, primarily through email and telephone contact.
  • Informs customers of technological improvements and the advantages to the customer of using the company’s products.
  • Propose changes in equipment or use of materials which would result in cost reduction or improvement in operations.

  • Provide technical services and support to customers relating to use, operation, and maintenance of equipment. This may include occasional travel to the customer’s site.
  • Resolve customer complaints and warranty issues. Handle quality problems that arise in the field in a fair, professional, and equitable manner to both the customer and the company.
  • Aids in the design and development of equipment and systems, and redesign of existing systems and products to fulfill the needs of customers.
  • On occasion, coordinate testing of product samples from end-users to determine physical properties and compatibility with company products.
  • Works with cross-functional teams to research, collect, and report information on the ability and capacity of company products against competing equipment to drive equipment sales and help in new product development initiatives.
  • Actively works with the other Application Engineers, Sales Managers, and Manufacturer’s Representatives to provide all the necessary technical and commercial assistance needed for products, applications, and markets.

Requirements

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a variety of different audiences.
  • Good organizational skills / intrapersonal skills, pro-active mindset, self-starter.
  • Strong commercial / business acumen, excellent teamwork skills, organizational competency and the ability to prioritize.
  • Good mechanical aptitude. Knowledge of installation, operation, maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings, 3D models, process flow diagrams, and P&IDs.
  • Problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts and fluid dynamics to properly size equipment.
  • Solid mathematical skills including the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, etc. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Able to provide a quality level of customer service, including dealing with customer complaints and help resolve problems.
  • Able to articulate and present ideas, concepts, and product demonstrations in front of a large group of people.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and/or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Proficiency in computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Willingness to occasionally travel to customer sites or other SPX Flow locations throughout the Americas when needed.
  • Desire to grow into a future commercial role in technical sales, channel management, or others., * Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from four-year College or university in Chemical, Mechanical, or other related Engineering field as well as 2 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional years of experience preferred.

Working conditions are normal for an office and/or client site workshop or warehousing facility. The noise level in the work environment is moderately quiet, however local and client sites can be unpredictable and associated safety equipment should be worn accordingly.
