Tanium Engineer

We are hiring a Senior Tanium Engineer to lead the design and advanced use of the Tanium platform across a complex, mission-focused defense environment. In this role, you’ll shape how Tanium is architected, integrated, and optimized-enabling stronger compliance, security, and operational outcomes at scale.

You’ll serve as a technical leader within Agile teams, guiding platform strategy while mentoring others and partnering closely with cybersecurity, IT, and compliance stakeholders.

What You’ll Do

Tanium Architecture & Engineering

You’ll take ownership of Tanium’s technical direction by:

• Designing, implementing, and optimizing Tanium infrastructure and modules for large, distributed environments
• Supporting and advancing use of modules such as:
• Asset
• Deploy
• Comply
• Patch
• Discover
• Ensuring Tanium integrates effectively across on-premises and cloud-based environments

Compliance & Security Leadership

You’ll drive continuous monitoring and readiness by:

• Leading Tanium-based compliance monitoring and reporting
• Supporting federal and DoD-aligned frameworks, including:
• STIGs
• NIST
• FISMA / RMF
• Developing custom queries, automation, and workflows to support compliance and security objectives

Automation, Integration & Advanced Use

You’ll elevate platform maturity through:

• Developing scripts, integrations, and custom functionality to automate:
• Compliance checks
• Remediation actions
• Reporting workflows
• Advising on best practices for scalable and repeatable Tanium operations

Technical Leadership & Mentorship

You’ll support team growth and quality by:

• Mentoring junior engineers and administrators
• Conducting technical reviews, walkthroughs, and knowledge-sharing sessions
• Delivering training and knowledge transfer to strengthen team capability

Agile Collaboration & Incident Support

You’ll operate as a senior contributor by:

• Participating in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, and backlog refinement
• Managing and tracking work through Jira
• Advising and supporting incident response and vulnerability remediation using Tanium’s capabilities

Stakeholder Engagement

You’ll work closely with partners across the organization to:

• Collaborate with cybersecurity, IT, and compliance teams
• Refine system strategies, technical requirements, and success metrics
• Translate mission and compliance needs into scalable Tanium solutions

• At least 5 years of hands-on Tanium engineering experience
• Active Secret Clearance
• DoD 8570 IAT II (e.i. Security+)
• Experience architecting and optimizing Tanium in large or complex environments
• Experience supporting both on-premises and cloud-based infrastructures
• Oracle Cloud experience (strongly preferred)
• Familiarity with DoD or federal compliance frameworks (STIGs, NIST, FISMA/RMF)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
• Clear communicator able to collaborate across IT, cybersecurity, and mission teams
• A proactive mindset with commitment to staying current on Tanium and security operations best practices
