Job description

Electus Recruitment Solutions is currently supporting an organisation within the defence sector that is looking for a Systems Design Engineer to join a specialist team working across complex missile and weapons systems. This is an opportunity to work across the full Systems Engineering lifecycle, contributing to system requirements, architecture, interface definition, verification and certification activities. The Role You will be responsible for Systems Design activities at system level, working across multiple programmes and coordinating technical input from a range of sub-system stakeholders. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and managing system requirements and use cases
  • Producing and maintaining system architectures and technical justifications
  • Defining and managing system interfaces
  • Developing design assurance and verification strategies
  • Supporting formal verification and certification activities
  • Leading technical trade studies where appropriate
  • Coordinating sub-system stakeholders to deliver design assurance and certification objectives
  • Producing clear and concise engineering documentation
  • Supporting multiple programme variants where priorities can change quickly

Requirements

We are looking for a Systems Engineer with experience across areas such as:

  • Systems Engineering lifecycle activities
  • Requirements management and use case analysis
  • System architecture and interface definition
  • Verification, validation and certification
  • Design assurance and technical documentation
  • Rational DOORS, including requirements and verification modules
  • Working within formal change management processes
  • Technical problem solving and engineering analysis
  • Working effectively across multi-disciplinary engineering teams

You will need strong communication and influencing skills, together with the ability to manage competing priorities and work proactively in a complex engineering environment.
