Job description

Booker DiMaio is seeking an experienced Power BI Developer to support a technology initiative with the U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS). This position will focus on designing, developing, and maintaining interactive dashboards, reports, data visualizations, and analytics solutions using Microsoft Power BI. The Power BI Developer will work closely with stakeholders, data analysts, and technical teams to transform complex datasets into clear, actionable information that supports data-driven decision-making. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Power BI, data modeling, DAX, data integration, and dashboard development, along with the ability to translate business requirements into effective reporting and visualization solutions. Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards and reports.
  • Develop data models and DAX calculations to support reporting and analytics requirements.
  • Integrate data from multiple internal and external sources.
  • Transform complex datasets into clear, actionable visualizations and insights.
  • Develop dashboards and reporting solutions supporting operational and executive-level decision-making.
  • Optimize reports and dashboards for performance, usability, and scalability.
  • Ensure data accuracy, integrity, security, and appropriate access controls.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, data analysts, developers, and other technical personnel to understand reporting requirements.
  • Translate business requirements into effective data models, dashboards, and visualization solutions.
  • Document data sources, models, calculations, reports, and dashboard functionality.
  • Support recurring and ad hoc reporting and analytics requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with Power Apps, Power Automate, SharePoint/Microsoft 365, and data warehouse personnel.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of Microsoft Power BI experience.
  • Demonstrated experience developing production-quality Power BI dashboards and reports.
  • Strong experience with data modeling.
  • Strong experience with DAX.
  • Experience integrating data from multiple sources.
  • Experience developing interactive data visualizations.
  • Experience optimizing Power BI report and dashboard performance.
  • Experience working with large datasets.
  • Strong understanding of data accuracy, security, and governance considerations.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into clear and useful reporting and visualization solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Desired Qualifications

  • Federal government experience.
  • Experience supporting the IRS or Department of the Treasury.
  • Experience developing executive-level dashboards and reporting.
  • Microsoft Power BI certification.
  • Experience with SharePoint Online, Power Apps, and Power Automate.
  • Experience working with Oracle data warehouse environments.
  • Experience with procurement, financial, acquisition, or operational data.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, formulas, queries, and data analysis.
  • Experience supporting enterprise analytics environments.
