Job description
This is a build role on a small team. You will ship features to the platform our annotation and evaluation work depends on: the intake flows, the quality dashboards, the reporting clients read. You will see them used within days rather than quarters. You will be paired with a senior developer for design and review, but the work is yours. We would rather you propose an approach we disagree with than wait to be told what to do. We are explicitly open to people who are strong but not yet deep. If you have two solid years and are still learning fast, apply. What you will do
- Build and maintain features across our internal platform, front end through data layer
- Write the tests that let the next person change your code safely
- Take part in design discussions and code review as a contributor, not an observer
- Work with the operations team to understand what the tooling is actually for
Requirements
- Two or more years writing software professionally
- Comfortable in TypeScript or Python and willing to work in whichever the task needs
- Understands relational data modelling well enough to design a schema
- Communicates clearly in writing, because most of our design happens in documents
Nice to have
- React and modern front-end tooling
- Exposure to data pipelines or ETL work
- Curiosity about machine learning without needing to be an expert
Benefits & conditions
- Fully paid medical, dental and vision
- 401(k) with employer contribution
- Unlimited paid time off with a four-week minimum
- $3,000 a year for conferences, courses and certifications
- Home office budget and a choice of hardware
