Distributed Systems PostgreSQL Backend

Job description

When you join as Senior Go Backend Engineer Utrecht, you will help build the new backend platform that customers use to configure and operate large-scale systems. This platform is central to the company’s long-term roadmap.

Your work includes: Designing and implementing APIs Creating and evolving domain logic Managing PostgreSQL schemas and migrations Improving performance, reliability and operability Integrating backend logic with distributed components under the surface

You work in a small senior team where engineering decisions are made based on real usage, team size and long-term maintainability, not trends. The system evolves incrementally, and you grow with it as complexity increases.

Requirements

  • At least 2+ years of commercial Go experience
  • 7+years o backend development experience
  • Experience working on systems serving large user bases
  • Strong backend fundamentals and distributed systems understanding
  • PostgreSQL (schema design, migrations, performance)
  • Experience designing and maintaining REST APIs
  • Cloud experience (GCP is a strong plus; AWS/Azure welcome)
  • Strong sense of ownership, pragmatic mindset, senior IC level
  • Fluency in English, comfortable with nuance and async collaboration
  • Eligible only if you hold nationality from a NATO member country
  • Experience working at a startup or scaleup is a big plus

Benefits & conditions

  • Salary between €85.000 and €105.000, depending on experience
  • Company stock options, sharing directly in long-term success
  • 25 vacation days
  • Amazing office, next to the train station
  • Flexible, 2 working from home days
  • Choice of your own hardware
  • Budget for training, conferences and continuous learning
  • The rare opportunity to build new backend systems inside a product with massive global adoption
  • A small, exceptionally senior team where productivity and impact are unusually high

About the company

  • Do you want to work on a brand-new backend platform built on top of a product already used in 200+ countries?
  • Do you enjoy backend engineering where reliability, clarity and long-term ownership matter more than hype?
  • Does it excite you to join a young NL engineering team, still in its first year, where your decisions shape the future foundations?
  • And do you say yes to systems onboarding 100,000+ new users per month, with massive growth ahead?

Then this may be exactly the role you have been waiting for.

Your employer: global product success, new platform, early-team influence

Your employer builds a globally adopted product that has already proven itself at very large scale. It is used daily in more than 200 countries, trusted by a rapidly growing user base.

To support the next decade of growth, the company is building a completely new platform layer: a control and configuration environment that customers use to operate complex, distributed systems at scale.

This new platform is onboarding 100,000+ new users every month, and demand is rising fast.

The engineering organisation is international, compact and highly technical. The Netherlands team is less than one year old, which gives you rare influence: shaping structure, processes, standards and culture while building software used worldwide.
