Job description

  • Do you want to help shape a Kubernetes-first platform engineering environment instead of simply maintaining infrastructure?
  • Are you looking for a role where you combine deep technical ownership with real influence on architecture, platform direction and developer experience?
  • Do you enjoy solving complex infrastructure challenges within globally used mission-critical systems that support large-scale operational processes?
  • And how does a direct permanent contract, hybrid working, an international engineering environment and a salary up to €95.000 + 12% bonus sound?

Your employer: building mission-critical infrastructure used around the world

You will join an internationally operating technology organization building large-scale software platforms that support critical operational processes across global infrastructure and logistics environments.

The systems developed here are used daily in environments where reliability, scalability and operational continuity are essential. This is technology with direct real-world impact: the kind of infrastructure that helps keep global goods flows and industrial operations moving. This is not another SaaS company optimizing ad-clicks or dashboards.

What makes this environment particularly interesting is the phase the organization is currently in., As a Senior DevOps / Senior Platform Engineer (Kubernetes/GitOps), you will help drive the transition from a traditional infrastructure environment toward a modern Kubernetes-first platform engineering setup.

This is a role for someone who enjoys building platforms, not just maintaining them. You will work closely with the infrastructure lead and the rest of the platform team to help define how the future internal platform should evolve. You will play a key role in shaping Kubernetes adoption, GitOps standards, platform governance and developer self-service capabilities across the engineering organization.

You will work on:

  • Kubernetes platform engineering
  • GitOps workflows with ArgoCD
  • Terraform and Ansible based Infrastructure-as-Code
  • CI/CD improvements and automation
  • Monitoring and observability with Prometheus, Grafana, Loki and Thanos
  • Developer platform initiatives using technologies such as Backstage and the Argo ecosystem
  • Self-service infrastructure flows and paved-road developer experiences
  • VMware to Kubernetes migration challenges
  • Reliability, scalability and operational governance

The environment is highly hands-on and technically deep.

One moment you may be helping troubleshoot a production Kubernetes issue under pressure. The next moment you may be designing a better self-service deployment flow, improving governance around cluster usage or helping define how workloads should transition from virtual machines toward containerized environments.

You will also help elevate the maturity of the team itself, where you get to actively implement AI-assisted developer tooling and automation to improve developer experience and operational efficiency. In this role you will influence through technical credibility, not people management.

Requirements

Your engineering colleagues are technically capable and motivated, but the organization is looking for someone who has already lived through these transitions before. Someone who can guide by example, bring clarity during complexity and help others level up without creating political friction or unnecessary process overhead.

What is needed?

  • 6+ years of experience within Platform Engineering, DevOps, SRE or modern Infrastructure Engineering
  • Strong production-level Kubernetes experience
  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform and/or Ansible
  • Experience with GitOps principles and tooling such as ArgoCD or Flux
  • Experience working with CI/CD pipelines in production environments
  • Strong Linux and systems engineering fundamentals
  • Experience troubleshooting complex distributed infrastructure problems
  • Understanding of networking, certificates, secrets management and infrastructure security
  • Comfortable working in a highly technical and somewhat introverted engineering culture
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to guide teams through technical change
  • Fluent English communication skills, * Some experience and great curiosity around AI-assisted developer tooling and automation
  • Experience with Backstage
  • Experience with the Argo ecosystem
  • Crossplane experience
  • VMware-to-Kubernetes migration experience
  • Azure experience
  • Kubernetes certifications (CKA/CKAD/CKS)

Benefits & conditions

  • Salary between €80.000 and €95.000 per year based on experience and added value
  • 12% bonus
  • Permanent contract
  • 32, 36 or 40-hour workweek
  • 2 working from home days, to be extended to 3 in the future
  • Strong pension plan
  • Travel reimbursement
  • Daily lunch provided at the office
  • International engineering environment
  • High level of ownership and technical influence
  • The opportunity to help shape a Kubernetes-first platform engineering organization from the ground up
  • Long-term technical challenges with real-world impact

About the company

The company is actively modernizing its infrastructure and platform landscape. VMware environments are being migrated toward Kubernetes. GitOps practices are becoming standardized. Internal developer platforms are being redesigned. Self-service capabilities, paved roads and governance structures are still being shaped.

That means you are not joining a fully locked-down enterprise environment where every decision was already made years ago.

You are joining at the moment where the real platform foundations are still being laid.

The infrastructure team already works with technologies such as Kubernetes, ArgoCD, Terraform, Ansible, Vault, Prometheus, Loki, GitLab CI/CD and Helm. The direction is clear. The Kubernetes journey is already underway. What they are missing is a senior engineer who has already gone through this journey before and can help accelerate it.

At the same time, you get something many modern platform engineering environments no longer offer: stability.

This is a mature international organization with long-term vision, strong financial backing and products that are deeply embedded into critical operational processes worldwide.
