Job description

  • We will have you contribute to the full lifecycle of space system development, from concept design and requirements definition through integration, verification, and mission operations.
  • We may ask you to support the spacecraft operations team with spacecraft anomaly identification and resolution.
  • You will work within our Space Business unit, primarily based in Alton, with hybrid working from home or another BAE Systems site where acceptable.
  • Occasional travel will be required.

Requirements

  • We are seeking a motivated and technically strong Systems Engineer with experience in space missions, ideally small satellites such as Microsats, Nanosats, or CubeSats.
  • We require experience in systems engineering within the space sector.
  • We require hands-on experience with small satellite programmes, preferably across the full project lifecycle.
  • We require working knowledge of typical spacecraft subsystems, including AOCS, Comms, EPS, Payloads, OBC/Software, and OBDH.
  • You must be willing and eligible to be submitted for security clearance, minimum SC.
  • Desirable: experience in defining, managing, and verifying system-level requirements.
  • Desirable: experience with industry standards such as ECSS, NASA, or equivalent.
  • Desirable: experience interfacing with external clients and suppliers and reporting project progress to internal and external stakeholders.
